    Job Type: Summer Student ContractDuration: June 18, 2012 August 24, 2012 (30 hours per week)Salary: $10.25 per hour

    SUMMARY OF POSITION:

    The Youth Engagement Coordinator will be providing support to the Street Youth Planning Collaborative by engaging streetinvolved and homeless youth, front line workers, and directors of youth serving agencies in planning an event and creating acommunication tool focused on human rights in the youth housing sector.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Event planning and coordination of workshops and eventsArranging guest speaker for a fall eventAdvertising for the fall eventConducting focus groups to create messages related to housing and human rights for youthFacilitating youth engagementCreating a social media presence with regards to youth homeless and housing (ie. Facebook and/or Twitter)Researching best practices in youth engagement in the housing and homeless sector in other communitiesData entry of monthly youth housing project statisticsOther duties as assigned

    SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:Applicants must be full time students returning to school in the fall

    Post Secondary Student (Community College/University) enrolled in social service work, social work, child and youth wosectorsEvent planning experienceKnowledge of the challenges of youth in marginalized communitiesEffective in working with youth, service agencies and volunteersAbility to work independently and take initiativeStrong organizational and communication skillsProficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Publisher and PowerPoint)Attention to detail and ability to multi-taskKnowledge of anti-oppressive practice and asset based frameworks

    Ability to speak French an asset
