Professional Development Facilitator


● Plans and carries out in-services to meet staff development needs in the area of special education due process, laws, rules, regulations and procedures including annual trainings

● Provides technological support for computerized IEP program

● Interprets state and federal special education laws and provides guidance, training and recommendations to ensure compliance

● Attends administrative meetings to share due process information

● Provides guidance and training regarding restrictive procedures and gathers and submits district restrictive procedure data to the MDE

CPI Training


SWWC is committed to providing its member school districts training and guidance with crisis prevention and intervention techniques.

SWWC has 11 Certified CPI Instructors who provide 7 different trainings to meet the needs of the SWWC Subscribing Districts

SWWC ELCs have 5 trainers (one per site) to provide trainings to ELC and district staff as well as crisis processing after restrictive procedures

Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI): The Nonviolent Crisis Intervention program focuses on providing the best Care, Welfare, Safety and Security to staff members and those in their care. The emphasis is on prevention, de-escalation and the use of physical intervention as a last resort when an individual presents danger to self or others. To help ensure consistent, ongoing training to districts, SWWC has implemented a comprehensive training framework. Member districts are provided:

● clear and consistent training and standards according to CPI guidelines● one-on-one support and consultation via phone, email and occasional site level visits● record retention of course completion

STAR Autism Implementation Training


● Four training sites throughout region developed as STAR model classrooms

● District coaches will be trained to assist with implementation and ongoing support

● Training teams: coach, teacher, paraprofessional, administrator, related service staff member

● Implementation Site Receives:○ Two-Day STAR Workshop in August○ 1 Full Day STAR on-site training for training team○ 3 Half Day STAR Follow-Up Implementation on-site trainings for

training team○ STAR Curriculum○ 1 Year Subscription to Media Center (webinars/additional training
