Sports Tours and EventsRecent Tours:

Boys’ U18 & U16 Cricket and Girls’ Cricket Tour to India10-21 December 2016

An exciting and challenging tour to Mumbai, which was only the second time that Millfield pupils have visited India for a sports tour and the first occasion for boys’ and girls’ teams to travel and compete abroad together.

The tour involved 45 players and seven staff who enjoyed an impressive tour itinerary which included five fixtures per team in some world-class stadiums. The pupils also coached girls from a Mumbai school linked to the GCS charity coaching programme. The group attended a test match between India v England, plus a programme of cultural and shopping activities around the bay and city of Mumbai. It was a truly magnificent experience for all Millfield pupils, staff and parents involved.

Boys’ 1st XI Hockey Tour to India 12-22 December 2016

A squad of 20 players and four staff visited Chandigarh and Delhi for a busy programme of fixtures and sightseeing activities. All seven matches were against Indian academy sides from Punjab, who proved to a be consistently strong opposition for the Millfield team. As outlined in the tour programme, Shaun Matthews, Performance Hockey Coach predicted:

“The hockey played in the subcontinent will be an eye-opener for some of our young athletes, stretching them as players who all have ambitions to develop their game. The challenge is for our pupils to learn within an environment that thrives on a fast-paced and direct style of hockey with individuals of utmost brilliance.”
