Art of Sound
Collaborative Community Art Installation
May 2, 2020 – early June Esplanade Park Attendance: 10K+
The 2020 Collaborative Community Art Installation: Art of Sound will bring colour to
Pickering’s premiere park from early May, until mid-June. The art installation will
engage Pickering residents in a joint venture to beautify Esplanade Park until garden
plantings arrive. Seen below Pinwheel Installation from 2019.
Hundreds of residents will join in the creation of this collaborative work on May 2, 2020,
which remains in place through Artfest on May 23, 2020, into early June when gardens
are planted.
Installations of this type generate incredible interest, and tremendous social media
impact; creating a sense of place and excitement for residents and visitors. This
approach to marketing appeals not only to local residents, but becomes a landmark
location for families and local youth to come and take photos in their own community.
Garden signage and promotions will encourage viewers to share their experience online
by taking photos and tagging their social media posts with #pickeringproud
#yourbusiness @pickeringevents #artfestpickering

Artfest on the Esplanade
Art of Sound

This annual event has operated for more than 20 years in
Pickering. Artfest on the Esplanade transforms one of
Pickering’s Signature Parks with colour and sound.
More than 100 local artists and artisans bring the
community together to celebrate art and culture. The
event features artist displays, workshops,
demonstrations, free hands on art activities for all ages,
cultural entertainment, roaming entertainers, live
interactive performances, food trucks, and more.
New in 2020: Artfest theme The Art of Sound will see
the introduction of a new independent authors area
featuring more than 20 authors with readings and live
interviews; community based arts installations;
interactive sound based fine arts activities, and a new
fully inclusive human sculpture social media project “Call Me Art”.
Artfest attracts arts enthusiasts from across Durham Region and
the GTA. This is the single largest one-day celebration of the Arts
in Pickering. The event shares the

Dancing, singing, and relaxing outdoors. Voted
one of the best places to listen to music in
Durham Region, Pickering’s summer concert series is a
perennial favourite. Hosted in 2 of Pickering’s
signature parks, these concerts bring a wide array of
local talent to residents each summer.
Pickering Summer Concerts attract music enthusiasts
from across Durham Region and the GTA. Concert
goers are known to dance, sing, plan with a group, and
are often up for a quick game of Jenga or Chess. If
you are looking to reach adults, families, and older adults
with your messaging Pickering Summer Concerts are an
excellent opportunity for your business.
The summer concert series is broken into Sundays and
Thursdays for sponsorship rights, and promoted
together. Sponsors benefit from cross promotion
throughout the season. Fully customizeable, we can
work with your organization to make this a brand
experience to engage and amaze.
Rained out – not to worry – our extended concert
schedule makes up all the rain dates from the
season during the month of September.

celebrate Canada Day in Pickering offering

seniors will all find something to celebrate
during this event. With two stages,
bouncing castles as far as the eye can see,

Canada Day evening in Pickering is a
spectacular night of celebration – purely
Canadian talent atop a professional stage with
giant led screen, all followed by a Giant Pyro-
musical Fireworks show. Rounded out by fun pre-

Experience Saturday, September 12, 2020 Esplanade Park Attendance: +3,000 guests New in 2020, the City of Pickering in collaboration with local community and cultural organizations will offer a new and exciting experience for area residents and guests; highlighting the incredible talents of local artists and cultural organizations by fusing fine arts with culture. Tree Lighting & Fireworks Friday, November 20, 2020 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm Esplanade Park Attendance: +8,000 guests The Tree Lighting & Fireworks celebration is the single largest winter event in Pickering, and operates in conjunction with the Pickering Christmas Market. The event is attended by all ages and demographics from across the GTA and Durham. This year’s Tree Lighting & Fireworks event will feature free activities and entertainment. Midway rides, seasonal crafts, activities & games with prizes, live entertainment throughout the park, in the Council Chambers, and at the Gazebo. The evening begins with the lighting of the trees and ends with a spectacular fireworks display over Esplanade Park. As a partner of the Annual Tree Lighting & Fireworks your company will receive the benefits listed in the following chart. Esplanade Park Illuminations
and Celebrations
Add light and sound to Pickering’s premiere City Centre destination. Welcoming
thousands of guests each year, and celebrated as Pickering’s Central Park, Esplanade
Park is the perfect location to build brand awareness through light, sound, and art.
City Centre Community Banner Program $15,000
This annual program results in an 11 month installation of colourful artists banners,
throughout City Centre, and surrounding Esplanade Park. The banner program brings
life and colour to the heart of Pickering’s City Centre. Banners are renewed annually in
December through a juried competition; which draws submissions from across the
country. Sponsors are recognized throughout the call to artists, on gateway banners, in
marketing materials, through social media, and within the online portal.
Interactive Illumination Tree $15,000
Imagine 5,000 lights interacting with the music of the communities’ voice. Capture the
imagination of your audience, and their social connections through this year-round
interactive installation in the heart of Esplanade Park. The Interactive Illuminated tree
(with sponsorship) will be expanded to five times the original size, and relaunched for
the community with a celebration event. Sponsors are recognized through marketing
materials, site signage, during the launch event, and with a custom social media tag.
Esplanade Park Light Tunnel $12,000
November 20, 2020 – January 31, 2021
Thousands of guests, and hundreds of
thousands of social media shares are the
result of the 2,000 twinkling lights
included in the 60 foot long Esplanade
Park light tunnel. Introduced in 2019 to
rave reviews from the local community
the 2020 light tunnel is scheduled to
remain in place for one month longer than
the tunnel in 2019, and is expected to
garner great community support, and
marketing reach.

Mayor’s New Year’s Day Levee Friday, January 1, 2021 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm Pickering City Hall Attendance: 400+ guests The Mayor’s New Year’s Day Levee invites residents and their family to start of the New Year with a community celebration. The event is attended by all ages and demographics from across Pickering and beyond our borders. This year’s Levee will include a special presentation by the Town Crier, free activities, light refreshments and entertainment. The day begins with a prediction of the year to come from the Town Crier, and greetings from Mayor and members of Council. Following the official portion of the event guests can enjoy a live music, participate in free all ages arts activity, enjoy refreshments, or simply sit and talk with family, friends and neighbours, while waiting for the grand prize draw.
