The My Louisiana Summit is Louisiana’s - and the Deep South’s - only known statewide social justice convening, bringing together policymakers, activists, non-profit leaders, advocates, and other relevant stakeholders for a multi=day convention featuring a variety of workshops, moderated panel discussions, presentations, working group roundtables, and featured speakers.

The goals of the Summit are threefold:

• To build long-term, statewide momentum around public policy reforms focused on creating a more just, equitable place for all people.

• To build political power as a statewide coalition by breaking down regional silos, sharing resources & best practices across issue areas, and being an annual catalyst for collaborative campaigns for social justice in Louisiana.

• To empower the next generation of social justice warriors with opportunities to create impact while exposing the next generation of leaders to the needs,threats, opportunities, and resources relative to marginalized communities in Louisiana.


the audienceat the my louisiana summit

The My Louisiana Summit attracts attendees from around the country, but most notably from all 64 parishes in the state. The Summit is supported through coalition and organizational participation from social justice and civil rights-focused groups who work in and/or have a presence in Louisiana. In 2018, the inagural My Louisiana Summit saw almost 500 attendees, representing the dynamic racial, religious, gender, and political diversity that characterizes the state of Louisiana more broadly.

The majority of attendees are nonprofit leaders and leading social justice advocates who are critically involved in the most pertinent policy debates around social equity. Attendees also include participants from:

• the Louisiana State Legislature• the United States Congress• Local/municipal governments• Philanthropic organizations, both state and national• Local commerce groups• Colleges and universities in Louisiana• State government departments

Most sessions at the 2019 Summit will be webcast, enabling remote viewers to watch the Summit, participate, and provide online feedback.


The 2018 My Louisiana Summit featured over 70 participants, 20 sessions, over 30 volunteers, and almost 500 attendees.
