  • I want you to come with me to a perfect place of peace and rest. Close your eyes to all around you and begin to imagine an amazing garden which is full of beauty and creativity.

    As you begin to explore this garden you realise that you have never been anywhere so amazing before. There are huge trees which have been planted a long time ago and are bearing much fruit. There are thousands of shrubs and flowers which spread their fragrance and beauty abroad. You notice that there are some seedlings that have recently been tenderly planted. The grass is luscious and green; the whole place looks like no garden you have ever seen before. There are no weeds that you can see. There is a wonderful slow moving river which winds its way through the garden. The whole place is full of peace, joy and tranquillity.

    As you explore the garden, the gardener approaches you and says, I love to walk in this garden;

    it is so full of peace, beauty and prom-ise. You ask him, where is this

    place? He looks straight at you and says, This is the garden of your life. Do you not know

    how beautiful you are? Can you not see how wonder-

    fully you have been created? You are

    this beautiful gar-

    den. Each time you say a kind word to someone, each time you do a good deed, each time you have a happy thought, every time you are selfless, I plant a seedling and over the years it grows and grows.

    You are astonished at what you are hearing and say to the gardener, But what about the times when I have been negative and hard? What about the times when I have been angry and annoyed? What about the times when I have uttered unkind words? The gardener replies, At times there are weeds, for every time you say an unkind word or think a negative thought a bitter root is planted. However, when you ask for forgiveness or extend forgiveness towards someone who has hurt you, I then pull out that weed of bitterness from your garden, but I dont just pull out that one, I pull out any other weeds that are there at the same time. You ask for forgiveness for one thing, but I forgive you for all you have done wrong. When you walk in forgive-ness, you walk in beauty and peace. Look around you. This is a place of tranquillity. This is a place of colour and joy. This is the garden of your life.

    This is you!
