An Astral Transmission Through Prof. Satyanarayana Chillapa President IUSCM, HQ. Hyderabad-59, India

“Your Own Self’’ – Do You Really Know ?

In IUSCM our asso-ciates are briefed, may be covertly, to cultivate theoretical notion of ‘Being’ of Universal Self Conscience, in wider empirical field of day to day life of interaction so as to actualize

colle-ctively, gradually at community, national and globally so as to ini-tiate, renaissance in socio cultural ethos of Mankind. This involves intuitive experience of REAL SELF, incisively separated from the psycho-somatic layers (Kosha) of personality.

It is achieved through meditation with the help of ‘Prana-

huti’. This, is a very subtle and delicate astral technique; so, requires to be carried out under the watchful guidance of My Master, Samrtha Sad Guru Sri Babuji Mharaj through the instrumental means of our Preceptors. However, there is a great and grave, essential responsibility on the shoulders of the preceptors to carry out the job entrusted, with divine precision akin to rising and setting of Sun on the firmament. Why because, the following anecdote from scriptures (Chandogya Upanisad 8.,12-3,5,6 Ramakrishna Math Madras, 1956) amplifies the import of above stated assumption.

It so happened that Prajapati (Creator Brahma) described

Atman as ‘’free from evil, free from old age, free from death, free from sorrows, free from hunger and thirst, whose is Truth, by seeking which one attains all the worlds and all the desires; he should be sought for’’.

EDITORIAL

Both the Deities and Demons heard about this and resolved to seek Atman by which they could attain all worlds and all the desires. Indra the God of devatas and Virochana king of demons went separately to Prajapati with fuel (Samidha) in the hand as the mark of respect to Guru to learn ‘Atma Vidya’

Creator Prajapati as Guru, asked both of them to stay and serve the Ashram for 32 celestial years.

At the end of the time allotted, Prajapati instructed them as ’’the person which is perceived in the eye, in water, in a mirror, is immortal, fearless Atman/Brahman. He further demonstrated, his premise by asking them to look in a bowel of water and asked to report if they have not understood Atman by what they have seen. They both, answered that they have seen and understood Atman entirely as they were, the very image even with groomed hair, well dressed, nails etc. Prajapati told that was immortal, fearless Brahman (Guru meant-- Kashta Brahman that is Bodily- Brahman and felt sorry that they have left without perceiving True import of Brahman and the false knowledge could not save them) . Both went away leaving the Ashram satisfied in their quest.

Virochana King of Demons understood physical body as

the Atman-SELF; satisfied in the heart he went back, and declared to his followers the ‘’doctrine of body-self’’ knowing which, one became immortal and fearless. The effects of this false doctrine could be seen even to day, in certain cultures, as a ritual custom, to adore, dead body with enjoyable things like ornaments, costly clothes, along with food articles and other articles liked by the deceased, when buried in costly tombs, thinking that he would live eternally in the other worlds with that immortal body and enjoy those articles that he liked in this world before death..

However Indra before reaching the abode of deities reflected on his understanding of the teachings of the Guru. He

Page 3: Spiritual News Bulletin Jan10 - iuscm.comiuscm.com/Newsletter/Spiritual News Bulletin - 201001 - Web.pdf · (Vishva Sarvatma Bhava Chaitanya Prasara Nilayam) ... Marga Raja Yoga Dhyana

understood Atman the SELF as his reflection in the eye , or in the water; the reflection changes according to the body shape with all its modifications. He reasoned that the self that undergoes modifications cannot be True SELF and he misunderstood the teachings of the Guru. So, he went back to Ashram and reported his doubts about the veracity of interpretation of the teachings as Prajapati spoke of the Self ‘the immortal and fearless’, Praying to instruct him again.

Guru asked Indra to stay and serve in Ashram for 32 celestial years more. At the end of that he instructed him as, ‘the One That Moves in dreams the immortal, the fearless’, He is the Atman the SELF. Indra left Ashram satisfied with the teaching of ‘’dream-self’’ as the SELF Atman. But, on the way on reflection he discovered that though the dream-self does not carry the attributes like, blindness, lameness or other defects of the physical body, or social position etc. of waking state yet it suffers limitations the mortal experiences like ‘’as if weeping, as if killed, as if afraid, as if thrown out’’ etc. which is against definition ‘’immortal, fear less’’ of Atman, given by the Guru. Indra again returned to Guru and expressed his doubts about the truthfulness of ‘’Dream self’’ as Atman and prayed to instruct about the True SELF. Prajapati, appreciated his discriminative analysis of ‘’Dream-self’’ limitations of false-identity with True SELF. But, he instructed him to serve the Ashram for 32 astral years more to gain eligibility in SELF- Knowledge. At the end, Guru instructed him thus, ‘’ the one that is in deep sleep, serene, composed, knows know dream, he is the Atman, the True SELF’’. Indra went away satisfied. But, even before he reached abode of Gods, he became aware of his difficulty to reconcile, sleeping serene, one that, does not know himself, ‘’I am he’’ nor other beings ‘’as if has gone to annihilation’’; the teaching of the Guru as I understand and interpret, may not be the True SELF. He returned to Ashram and expressed difficulty in accepting the entity in sleep as True Self which is immortal, as defined. Prajapati said ‘’it is indeed so’’

as you visualise. He, asked Indra to serve Ashram for 5 years more to become eligible for further instruction in SELF Knowledge (ATMA Vidya). Thus, Indra The King of Gods served a total of 105 astral years before he became truly competent and eligible to be initiated in Atmavidya Finally Indra was instructed to experience intuitively the One That, who knows-- ‘’I smell’,.’’ I see’, I hear, ‘’ I speak’’ I think’’ through this divine eye of the mind , He verily sees the panorama of objects in the Brahman world and rejoices.’ In this way description of Atman is attempted. Awareness is its true nature It is Knowledge It Self. In its presence objects become aware through instruments of senses and mind by ego self; agency of experience only to the instruments and not to SELF, just like the statement- ‘’sun light reveals objects’’ Sun is not an agent to show the objects; shining is its very nature, it simply emits light and warmth, agency function is attributed by man. ‘’Your Own SELF’’ is to be understood and intuitively felt the experience in the light of above analysis Swamiji

Special Feature Column Letter No.918 / dated 1-7-1954, to Elder Preceptor late Shri. N. Kumara Swami Garu My dear brother, I had been on a fortnight tour to several places till 19-6-1954. Your letter reached here during my absence. I got it on my return. Your earnest craving for spiritual upliftment is very encouraging feature of your spiritual life. Reverses of course, there are at times. But one must march on like a brave soldier unaffected by interruptions and reverses. These are thorny bushes on our path. They melt away if we proceed on with will, faith and confidence. You are steadily progressing; no doubt,

Page 4: Spiritual News Bulletin Jan10 - iuscm.comiuscm.com/Newsletter/Spiritual News Bulletin - 201001 - Web.pdf · (Vishva Sarvatma Bhava Chaitanya Prasara Nilayam) ... Marga Raja Yoga Dhyana

slowly however it may be, due to unfavourable circumstances. But never mind these difficulties. They can be easily be surmounted by dint of earnest craving and sincere effort. Personal contact shall no doubt be greatly be helpful, but so long as it is not possible, we must utilise to our best advantage all other available means (contact with letters being one of them). You should go on with your usual routine of abhyas and try to note your condition. You may continue the pranayam exercise as advised by Swami whom you met. It shall be helpful in cleaning the nervous system and moulding the mind to some extent. Meditation exercise also leads us internally to it but this pranayam exercise may be an external and additional help.

The new book, ‘Reality At Dawn’ has not been out of press as yet, although the printing except that of the cover page is complete. The press had for sometime past been busy in publishing the school books for the year. Our book is expected to be out in about a month. The price shall be -/8/-only (almost one half of the cost price) with a view to give it a wide circulation. I shall send you a few copies when it is out. As for its review it has not yet been published in any one of the papers here. It shall be done after the book is received. Shri C.M.T.Mudaliar, a member of our Mission in South Arcot had got the review of the Efficacy of Raj yog published in some of the S. India magazines. I shall suggest to you their names and of some other periodicals which I know of and which may likely publish the review of this book too. With best wishes, Affectionately yours, Sd / xx xx xx (RAM CHANDRA)

Sincerely yours, Swamiji From: Robert Becker Dear Luke Good to talk with you on the phone yesterday and to hear of your meeting with Swamiji. As outlined, you and your wife and mother are most welcome to attend the centre here at 210 Carradine Road Bedfordale to practice the Pranahuti meditation as gifted us from Swamiji. As discussed Sunday is not a good time for you due to your work commitments so we have fixed Tuesday evening between 8pm and 9pm as the time the group will meet. Please join us if you are able. Alternatively if you would like to visit at any other time to see the centre or for discussion and practice you are most welcome to do so. If there are any matters requiring clarification also please do not hesitate to raise. Kind Regards Robert From: Robert Becker, 8 Dec, 2009 Dear Sri Swamiji Thank you for your blessings

Thank you also for the great privilege of spending time with you on Saturday morning on departure from Perth Airport and for the teachings you imparted on the drive to the airport and while waiting for departure. The seeds you have so lovingly planted will be nurtured and tended until they flower with the sweet nectar of Amrit.

Swamiji, as requested I have contacted Sri Luke and made an arrangement for him to visit the Perth ashram at Kookaburra Creek. Luke is very busy on weekends so we have fixed the time for satsang and meditation to be on Tuesday evenings from 8pm to 9pm. This also suits the other students who have taken initiation into this Path.

Swamiji last night two new abhyasis were initiated. Both had come to see you when you visited the centre here. A third student, Leone also stayed for the hour. I have asked for photos of the two new abhyasis as before to send on to you.

With the first new student, the chakras were heavy and dull. She has been going through a lot of distress in her personal life. After the second pass they started to clear. She reported after the session having experienced lightness in the region of the body from the Manipura to Vishudda which brought her mental relief and joy. At the end of the session she did not want to come out of meditation. She will return next week for a follow up session

With the second student the chakras were easy to see but all appeared a bit "muddy". This also cleared after the second pass of the chakras.

Leone has been doing morning and evening practice. Her chakras had the quality of a clear bell. They were bright and clean. As for my own practice yesterday morning after meditation a flock of butterflies flew around on the way up from the hall. Those made my heart skip with joy....

I continue to clean the cooking pot with the earth......and bow in gratitude to the Guru. Guru is God himself manifesting in a personal form to guide the aspirant. Grace of God takes the form of the Guru. To see the guru is to see God. The Guru is

Page 6: Spiritual News Bulletin Jan10 - iuscm.comiuscm.com/Newsletter/Spiritual News Bulletin - 201001 - Web.pdf · (Vishva Sarvatma Bhava Chaitanya Prasara Nilayam) ... Marga Raja Yoga Dhyana

united with God. He inspires devotion in others and his presence purifies all. The Guru is verily a link between the individual and the immortal. He is a being who has raised himself from this to THAT, and thus has free and unhampered access into both realms. He stands, as it were, upon the threshold of immortality; and, bending down he raises the struggling individuals with one hand, while with the other he lifts them up into the imperium of everlasting joy and infinite truth-consciousness.

The true Guru is Brahman himself. He is an ocean of bliss, knowledge and mercy. He is the captain of your soul, the fountain of joy. He removes all your troubles, sorrows and obstacles. He shows you the right divine path and tears your veil of ignorance. He makes you immortal and divine, transmuting your lower, diabolical nature. He gives you the rope of knowledge, and takes you up when you are drowning in this ocean of births and deaths. Do not consider him to be only a man, for, if you do, you are a beast. Worship your Guru and bow to him with reverence. Guru is God. A word from him is a word from God. He need not teach anything. Even his presence or company is elevating, inspiring and stirring - his very company being self-illumination. Living in his company is spiritual education. Read the ` Granth Saheb' (the holy scripture of the Sikh religion). You will come to know the greatness of the Guru.

Man can learn only from man, and hence God teaches through a human body. In your Guru, you have your human ideal of perfection, the pattern into which you wish to mould yourself. Your mind will readily be convinced that such a great soul is fit to be worshipped and revered.

Guru is the door to liberation, the gateway to the transcendental truth-consciousness. But, it is the aspirant that has to enter through it. The Guru is a help, but the actual

task of practical spiritual practice falls on the aspirant himself. The Guru's tender smile radiates light, bliss, joy, knowledge, peace. He is a blessing to suffering humanity. Whatever he says is Upanishadic teaching. The Guru knows the spiritual path. He knows the pitfalls and snares on the way. He gives timely warning to his students. He showers his grace on their heads. All agonies, miseries, tribulations, taints of worldliness, etc., vanish in his presence. Thine Own Self Robert Reply From Swamiji for the above mail. Dear Shri. Robert Becker Ashirwad

Received your letter dated 8th December-09. It reveals your insight in many interesting yoga and psychic features and its intuitive knowledge.

• Here, in India we have a proverbial saying viz. during ‘ Sharadrutuvu’ i.e. September and October months the Oysters shells come to the surface of sea waters with open mouth and the rain drop that is caught by them is converted into a high grade quality pearl known as “ Swati Mutyam’’. In the same way, you have that capacity of a mother-shell to convert the rain drops of spiritual shower from the Swamiji’s Consciousness Space into pearls of class-grade knowledge wisdom.

• Hope Shri Luke, his mother Pual, and wife Karthikaiye have visited your Ashram to renew the pranahuti transmission through yoga meditation, as you have directed them. Inform the outcome

• It is so heartening to know that you could visualise the colour, density, luminosity , and the change of appearance in different yoga Chekras along the course of ‘

Shushumna - Nadi’ of the abhyasis under your ward. It is an indicator of Master’s grace actively working in your psychic system. This could be possible only by surrendering whole heartedly to Master obtaining the ‘ layavastha’ in Him. And, an indicator of high level yoga depth of proficiency. May My Master, bless you further progress on the path of spiritual goal attainment.

• Your conception about Guru is a splendid Truth, and reflects the depth of Devotion to achieve Para Brahman the Ultimate Reality. When the Ultimate descends in “ flesh and blood’’ his Infinite aspect is covered by ‘Yoga-Maya’ and only the finite aspect of the personality is exposed to the comprehension as ‘one of the other fellow-beings’ to great majority of contemporary people.

“ Na Ham Prakasha

Yoga Maya SamaVruthaha Mudhoo Na Abhijanami

Lokoo Mama Aja Mva-yam’’

• To know and experience the Guru in His Ultimate ‘Tatva’ that is, intuitive nature of ‘Being’ by-passing the ‘ becoming’ aspect, it needs, a minimum high-level of spiritual attainment as reflected in your letter.

• Inform from time to time the activities of the Ashram, and send your spiritual diary and photos of newly inducted aspirants.

With Master’s Blessings Your Own SELF Swamiji From: Asish Menon Dear Swamiji,

Please find introduction from Anna Ellery, new abhyasi. Anna is also interested in the preceptor role for Melbourne.

Your own self Asish Menon Dear Swamiji,

My name is Anna and I am very

happy to have been initiated into the Sahaj Marg system of meditation.

My background is in Yoga and meditation. I first started practicing Yoga asanas when I was about 14years old and did practice for 2 years at the Beacon school of Yoga in Beaconsfield in Perth. I had a break from Yoga while I went to University to study art. I moved to Melbourne when I was 21 and started going to Yoga classes again. I felt drawn to learn to teach Yoga. I studied Yoga teacher training in 2005 (when I was 23) with the Australian College of Classical Yoga which follows the lineage of Swami Muktanada. Part of my training was to meditate for an hour every day. After completing my training and going to India the first time I noticed a great change in my temperament, approach and understanding of life. I began teaching Yoga in 2006 and now teach full time as well as working part time as hypnotherapies.

In 2007 I went to India for the second time and attended a

Vipassana course in Haryana. I also completed further training in Satyanada Yoga in Rishikesh. I completed my second Vipassana course in January 2008.

Through Vipassana I have had a regular meditation

practice and have been able to concentrate my mind to a certain degree, I am unable however to attend further courses with them as I teach meditation in my classes. I have also felt that the Patanjali system is a very long path to liberation. When I met Asish at a retreat with Swami Sarasvati in November I felt an immediate connection with him. When he told me about the meditation that he does and that he was looking for a preceptor for Melbourne I immediately thought ‘that’s me’.

For a while I have been feeling with my teaching that I

would like to offer more to my students to allow them to be free from the polarity of the mind and hence the suffering that the mind causes. I feel now that the opportunity has come to me to allow others to improve their experience of life through meditation. I am pleased that I will be able to share this meditation with many of my students and friends and also that it is free. I look forward to meeting you next time I am in India. With much Love and Peace, Anna Ellery, Melbourne, Australia Reply From Swamiji for the above mail Dear Anna Ellery Ashirwad

Welcome to IUSCM and its yoga branch viz. Sahaja

Marga Raja Yoga Dhyana Gruhastha Ashram ( SMRYDGA ). You had varied experience on variants of classical Patanjali Ashtanga Raja Yoga meditation, including Buddhist yoga of Vipasana. You have the teaching experience of Hata yoga and hypnosis.

Sahaja Marga Raja yoga meditation differs with all these types, and unique in that, it is based primarily on ‘Pranahuti’ the nascent ‘Will Power’ originating from Macro-Cosmic Mind known as ‘Hiranya Garbha’, the golden womb of creational process of the universe. The whole system is based on the cosmic grace transmitted by Guru.

This Astral power once introduced into the heart of the abhyasi, it starts working from within and in due course the abhyasi begins to feel cosmic effect more and more as the Sanskaras ( the Micro impressions ) in the heart gradually are melted away. Sanskaras constitute the ‘Karma’ in terms of

1-Prarabdha Karma, 2- Agami Karma, and 3-Sanchita karma.

All yoga sciences of Indian origin (Oriental) are based on

Karma Sidhanta. Exhaustion of Karma leads to ‘Moksha’ the final release from the ‘Transmigration cycle’ of birth and death.

Swamiji is happy that you are selected as the preceptor of

IUSCM at Melbourne that he visited along with Asish Menon recently before returning to India.

You are quite free to be in touch with Swamiji on any issue pertaining to yoga and spirituality. With Master’s Blessings Your Own SELF Swamiji From Swamiji, Dated 28th November.2009 Dear Shri Asish Menon Ashirwad

Your most affectionate letter of communication is Heart -

Touching, and ''Soul - Moving’’. My Master is always, with You and In-You, marvellously, ''observing and 'Witnessing'' the awesome Panorama of Divine devotional thought waves in you.

All complements for inducting a much needed, and long awaited need of filling the gap of Resident Preceptor at Melbourne. Hope this would hasten the process of spreading the Divine message of UNIVERSAL SELF CONSCIOUSNESS - THE EMPIRICAL MODE of ONENESS OF MAN KIND.

Thank you for your prayers for the departed soul. The

funeral was in Wellington. Managed to establish some good contacts. On the 8th day of his death, the Priest who was suppose to recite Gita did not turn up and this gave me an opportunity to address the gathering of about 40 people. I spoke about Atma (Soul) and introduced IUSCM and its benefits. I will have to visit them in the near future. The possibility is there for the establishment of a branch. I will be pursuing this further on completion of the final rituals on Saturday 28th November. Swamiji sat for meditation at 10 am as usual on Sunday in spite of covering long journey and having jet lag. It is like a mother sitting with her children to inculcate the habit of reading and doing home work regularly at a given time. In-spite of this the abhyasis and preceptors do behave as children often.

We are very few, with Shri G.Shankar Rao, Shri V.Shyam Prasad , Prof.I.Sreenivasa Rao who are blessed by Master to have sittings and Satsangh with Swamiji on Sundays. We consider it, indeed our 'poorva janma sukrutham'. Another noble soul who regularly visits Ashram mostly on Thursdays is Shri V V.Subbareddy. After meditation Swamiji gave pravachanam that we should always keep in mind 'we are not body-mind-intellect conglomerate’ but we are the Self, which is eternal reflecting the God. Due to His sankalpa, the universe is created. He is Nimitta Karana as well as the Upadana Karana of creation like a spider that takes out the thread from its body and also takes it back (dissolves). Swamiji further emphasised that one should remove, ‘avidya’, that is attachment to worldly things. Swamiji gave the example of cleaning the idol in the temple by removing the flowers and other puja items used on the previous day, which is called nimajjanam. While sharing the experiences of Australian tour, Swamiji was all praise for the dedicated efforts of Shri Govinda Sami and his team in popularising the IUSCM and their abundant love for Master Swamiji. The affectionate hospitality provided to Swamiji and Ashram Mata by the families of Shri Govinda Sami, Shri Satyanarayana Sunkara, Srimati Anita Bobba and Asish Menon , at Sydney and Melbourne was memorable according to Swamiji.

Another mention was made by Swamiji was about Shri Robert Becker, who is new bright feather in the cap of IUSCM at Perth. His devotion to Master and Swamiji, and his affectionate send off to Swamiji and Ashram Mata on 4th Dec.09 morning at Perth was heart touching.

Swamiji wish to establish the centres of IUSCM in USA in the coming year. May Master shower His blessings on all of us! Dr. V.Gopala Krishna Rao From: Saivgkrao, 24 November, 2009 Pujya Swamiji, Pranam;

Along with Sri Shankar Rao and Sri Shyam Prasad attended Satsangh at Ashram on 22nd November 09. After meditation, we discussed the Editorial - Universal Self Consciousness ‘The Virat Swarupa Of Bhagavan’, from November SNB.

Sri Subba Reddy attended Ashram on Thursday 19th

Nov.09. Chi Rajiv Raj poem aptly reflects the condition of many abhyasis. May Master bestow on him His kind Grace for all his endeavours. Please convey our pranams to Ashram Mata; Best wishes to Chi. Hari's family.

Abhasis here are eagerly waiting for

return of Pujya Swamiji and Ashram Mata to Hyderabad. Seeking Guru's Grace, VGKRao

“In the path of yoga, self realisation ( self-experience ) is a fact. The proverb goes, self-realisation within the cave of

ones’ heart and mind is as difficult as “searching for the wicker of a broom in a miser’s hand.’’ In the path of devotion, it is the same thing, where one meditates on the form of the idol. Only the means is different; the principle to be achieved is the same. In that too, one meditates on the heart, thinking of the full form of the Lord, and imagining only the face of the Lord, he merges in the pure form of the Almighty. There after there is no thinking. This way, the devotee starts with meditation and ends in merging with pure form of God and finds God within him.

Hence it is better to reach God in our own hearts,

experience Him within us, and attain that principle which exists in everything, every where.’’

(2) By Samartha SadGuru Sri. Ramachandra Maharaj ( Sri.

Babuji Maharaj ) “Do you understand when I say we have to find out

‘potentiality’? What is it’s origin or where does it come from? It comes from ‘Tam’, the last resting place of a true Yogi. It is not one of the three GUNAS but an expression of the condition at the stage as explained in my book “The Commentary on Ten Commandments of SAHAJ MARG’’. The liberated souls partake of it - the real thing, just described according to their rank and state. The impression held by certain philosophers that liberated souls do not possess the actual consciousness but only the potentiality for it, is wrong and misleading. No doubt the liberated souls develop their power so much that they utilise both consciousness and potentiality any way they like, but really they are above both; and then only follows liberation. If you have got potentiality developed in you, it means you have got something which is far away from the idea of “nothingness.’’

(Ref: EFFICACY OF RAJ YOGA, P. 39-40 SRCM, Pub.) ( 3 ) Letter from the Saint Kasturiji – Lakhimpur Dated, 26-10-1949 Revered Shri Babuji, Sadar Pranam!

I came to know yesterday through master Sahib that you had fallen ill. You felt some breathlessness. Hope that now you will be well. We pray to the ‘Master’ that this priceless gem may live in our midst for many many years and we all may progress continuously under his shade. We are very fortunate that our Revered Shri Babuji remembers our parents very much and sometimes taking me as his daughter, my turn also comes.

Since I have sent a letter to you through Shri Master Sahib, there has again come a little change in my spiritual condition. The condition of my remembrance is not good. Mostly I forget to remember to recollect ‘Him’ by supposing; but even then, it is going on somehow by the Grace of the ‘Master’.

As I had written to you sometimes earlier that I fall in deep slumber. But there is a lot of difference in the prior and present condition. Now I enjoy such a sound sleep that if I may sleep for ten minutes in the night and ten minutes in the day as well, both the mind and body become as much refreshed that there is no need to sleep any more. It seems that no work has yet been taken by the mind and body. But on awakening, it does not even strike to me for eight or ten minutes that were I am lying and whether it is day or night. After a short while, all the things begin to come into the mind gradually. Most probably I had written to you earlier that it appears on awakening that I have come in a foreign country. Such a

condition existed throughout the day for fifteen to twenty days, but now, neither I feel that I am in a foreign country nor realise that I am in my home. The other condition is somewhat the same as I have already written in my previous letter.

Mother conveys her blessings and Kesar and Bitto their pranams. Love to younger brothers and sisters. Your humble daughter Kasturi

Yatha Ekena Thena Edam Poornam Brahmaanda Mandalam’’

Meaning: “Oh! The Knower of Truth knows no misery in this world, for the whole universe is filled by him alone.’’

Explanation: Parochial ego suffers pain and miseries

tossed by merciless thought waves of selfish desires, just like a twig blown in a hurricane wind. On the other hand the same ego when sublimates and trans - mutates into expanded Universal SELF Consciousness through appropriate yoga meditation technique it identifies with all Mankind, transcending the narrow’ name and form limits, akin to Godly consciousness. Then where is sorrow and misery to such a sage who is a Para Brahman the Reality moving in flesh and blood? Lord Krishna Himself extolled such sage as

“ Nir Apeksham Munim Shantham Nirvairam Sama Darshnam

Anu Vrajamyaham Nityam Pooye Yethyam Ghri Renubhihi’’

( Ref: Bhagavatham, ekadisha, 14-16 )

Meaning: “The Peaceful Sage, whom in his equal vision moves about in the world with hatred to none, ever-free, I constantly follow him from behind, seeking to purify Myself, with dust of his feet.’’ (5) Swamiji:

One of the abhyasis at Perth Australia ( during his recent

visit )has casually indicated that she feels now and then, blankness in the mind ( using the word vacuum to express the condition ) and wanted to know what and why it is so? Surprisingly, the person is not that much regular in her meditation and a novice, by any standard of yoga concept. This sort of experience in yoga parlance is called as “ Udasinatha’’ or “ Nirlaptata’’ and is an indicative mark of fairly high advancement towards the goal of SELF Realisation. In this state of yoga, calmness leading to silence of mind is felt, to start with interruptedly, leading gradually to permanent condition of “ Sahaja’’ the natural condition of the psych as sanskaras in the mind are exhausted. And, Vedic scriptures, particularly “ Mandukopanishad’’ describes this condition as “Turiya’’ the fourth and final end Silence ( Mauna ) of the word syllable sound of Om.

Empirically, the yogi feels his mind “as if” like the sky where there are no stars, no clouds, and no other ripple of objects of phenomenal nature; only the experience of vast end-less, empty immense, stilled, expansion of space.
