Recently, my father had heart surgery torepair a damaged valve and he did not bounce

back as quickly as we had hoped. In fact, hewas sedated and on a ventilator for five days, in the CCU for aweek, and in the hospital for seventeen days. It was a very

stressful time for our family many of you have been therebefore. Thankfully, he is now home and slowly recovering.He and Anne are very grateful for all the cards, calls, food,visits, and prayers. We believed all along that he would makeit through and recover but this has certainly been a reminder thatin life there are no guarantees, especially when it comes to ourhealth. When you are watching your father in CCU, unconsciousand on a breathing machine, a lot goes through your mind. Fromtalking to him in recent days, I know a lot has gone through hismind as well during this entire process. One of the things he hassaid over and over again is that we are all guilty of taking ourhealth for granted. In the sermon a few weeks ago, I referred toan article published last fall by Forbes that talks about the top

twenty-five regrets that people have in life. I wanted to sharethose because I found them fascinating:

1. Working so much at the expense of family and

friendships.

2. Standing up to bullies in school and in life.

3. Stayed in touch with some good friends from my

childhood and youth.

4. Turned off my phone more/Left my phone at home.

5. Breaking up with my true love/Getting dumped by

them.

6. Worrying about what others thought about me so much.

7. Not having enough confidence in myself.

8. Living the life that my parents wanted me to liveinstead of the one I wanted to.

9. Applying for that "dream job" I always wanted.

10. Been happier more. Not taken life so seriously.

11. Gone on more trips with the family/friends.

12. Letting my marriage break down.

13. Taught my kids to do stuff more.

14. Burying the hatchet with a family member or old friend.

15. Trusting that voice in the back of my head more.

16. Not asking that girl/boy out.

17. Getting involved with the wrong group of friends when I

was younger.

18. Not getting that degree (high school or college).19. Choosing the practical job over the one I really wanted.

20. Spending more time with the kids.

21. Not taking care of my health when I had the chance.

22. Not having the courage to get up and talk at a funeral or

important event.

23. Not visiting a dying friend before he died.

24. Learning another language.

25. Being a better father or mother.

This past Sunday was youth Sunday and we celebrated wour graduating seniors. These individuals are bringing ochapter of their lives to a close and moving into a very excitiyet unknown future. The words of Jeremiah are alwaappropriate: "For surely I know the plans I have for you, says

Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give youfuture with hope" (Jeremiah 29:11). Life is full of ups adowns, opportunities and disappointments, successes and failurWhether we are graduating from high school or advancingthe golden years, may we live our lives so that we have fregrets. After all, it was Jesus who said, "I came that you mhave life and have it abundantly." (John 10:10).

"Generations of Generosity" UpdateWe have had a strong initial response to our spri

stewardship campaign. I want to thank everybody who has maa commitment to support the mission and ministries Woodmont for another year. Each year, this campaign allows to responsibly set the operating budget for a new church ye

beginning July 1st. To date, we have received 269 pledgtotaling $1,644,178. We are now in the follow up stages our campaign and it's still not too late to be a part. You cgo to the website (www.woodmontchristian.org) or emailconfidentially to pledge@woodmontchristian.org. In receyears, during one of the most difficult financial periods history, the generosity of Woodmont has been very evideand as a church we have grown dramatically in our stewardshmaking possible many new ministries and outreaopportunities. We also became completely debt free a few ye

ago which was very exciting! This chart will help show ostewardship growth in recent years.

As of 5/6/13 we have received: 269 pledges totaling $1,644,17

It has been an unparalleled blessing to me to have the privilege of being in the presence of the young people in this church for thpast few years. I am grateful to each of you for this opportunity. We shall move on nowwith hope and promise, given to us b

I have been thinking about Mother's Day this week and this verseis the first thing that came to mind. I think this describes the loveof a mother. I do not know what it feels like to love someone likea mother loves her child, but I feel so blessed to have felt this

love from my mother. She is the kindest, gentlest, most lovperson I have ever known. My mom has shown me how to trothers with love and respect. She has taught me how to listen ato hear more than just the words a person says. She has shown how to love even when it is difficult. I am so thankful for example that my mother has demonstrated for me by the way schooses to live her life. This week and every week remember

be thankful for the mothers in our lives, for the sacrifices thhave made and for the love they have shown.

Landon Browns Disciple Service Project

As part of his Disciples Class, Landon Brown rebuilt a picnic table for the Nashville Food Project Garden. He willcomplete this class with Baptism on May 12th. Assisting is his mentor, Cyril Stewart.

Roy and Anne feel he has turned the corner and are so grateful for the many

faithful, caring, loving, praying friends at Woodmont and beyond who have

helped them get through this difficult time. Thank you for your calls, many cards

meals, visits, and other expressions of caring especially the delicious and heart

healthy ones. Roy says "Woodmont has the greatest cooks however he does not

want his 30 pounds back on :-)"
