Wellness Tips for Spinal HealthWellness Chiropractic Care – Taking care of your spine is like taking care of your car. Every once in a while it needs a tune up! Over the years, trauma, toxins, and thoughts put stress on the spine and nervous system, just as we put miles on a car. Chiropractic care has the incredible ability to meet you where you are on your wellness journey and take your wellness level to the best place it can be through the power of your own body.

Good Posture – Be mindful when sitting and standing to keep your body in line so you don’t develop muscle imbalances and pains from poor posture. Posture is important at work, during sleep, and during activity.

Drink Water – Drinking half your body weight in ounces per day helps relieve muscle tension and keeps the discs in our spine hydrated, oxygenated, and helps deliver nutrients. It is also good for flushing toxins.

Foam Roller – A foam roller can be used for rehab, prevention, and management of chronic problems. In addition, it can help build strength and balance in the small spinal muscles called multifidi.

Sleep Posture – The best sleep posture is on your back with a pillow under your knees and arms at a neutral position at your side or on your side with a pillow between your knees and hands no higher than the level of your heart. A good pillow that supports your neck is also essential.

Movement – Movement is essential for the spine. Weight-bearing activity maintains bone health, prevents osteoporosis, and improves muscle strength. Movement also improves blood flow and nutrient delivery to the whole body. Use a fitness tracker, such as a Garmin device, to make movement fun!

Deep Breathing – Any stress on the body can cause a subluxation, it does not have to be a physical stress or trauma. Take 3 deep breaths in stressful situations to calm the body.
