Spectrodensitometer

State of the Art measurement device to measure Colour, Density and Light

FD-7 and FD-5

The impact of fluorescent whitening agents in papers depends on the amount of UV in the viewing environment. Until now available measure-ment devices have been unable to take this into account.

Thanks to Konica Minolta’s VFS technology the actual amount of UV in the viewing environment can be used for measurements. The result is a close correlation between visual evaluation and measurement when assessing the impact of whitening agents.

FD-7/FD-5

Ultralight Spectrodensitometer -

printing and packaging applicationsthe perfect instrument for conventional and digital

For the first time UV calibration in accordance with to ISO 13655 M1

The new Konica Minolta FD Spectrodensitometers conform to measure-ment mode M1 of ISO 13655:2009. In addition to ISO measurement modes M0, M1, M2 and M3, the patented virtual UV calibration allows the use of any light source for the measurements.

Close correlation with visual evaluation

New perspectives in colour matching

Take advantage of the experience of the world lea-der in light measurement. In an instant the FD-7 can be used for measuring light sources. Illuminance, colour temperature and ∆uv are shown on the in-ternal display.

For the first time visual evaluation and colour mea-surement is closely correlated by using the colo-rimetric values of the light source for measuring reflectance.

Standalone – Scanning – Light measure

In addition to its use as the world’s lightest stand alone measurement device showing the values on it’s internal display, when connected to a PC, the FD-7 can be used for scanning test charts.

In scanmode one measurement shows the impact of fluorescent whitening agents for several viewing conditions. This is a unique feature. The light mea-surement allows the user to take account of the viewing conditions in the light cabinet, the POS or at a trade fair to ensure perfect colour reproduction.

We take all possible steps to ensure the accurracy

With conventional measurement devices it is necessary to regularly correct for wavelength shifts. Historically this could only be done by the maker of the instrument. The models FD-5 and FD-7 perform an evalu-ation of the wavelength accuracy and if necessary a shift compensation with every white calibration.

Thanks to the additional correction of temperature drifts you are assured that you are using a precise and stable instrument between maintenance checks. Some choose not to talk about these problems, we choose to solve them.

The most flexible instrument by Konica Minolta

Lightest of its class

The main body weighs only about 350g, and even with the target mask attached it’s only about 430g, lighter than any previous spectrodensitometer. This reduces the load on the user’s arm during work, im-proving efficiency when taking measurements over a long time.
