When The Torah tells the story of how the daughters of Tzelafchad came to Moshe Rabbeinu asking for a share in The Land, it lists their lineage - who they came from, “The daughters of Tzelafchad, the son of Cheyfer, the son of Gil’ad, the son of Machir, the son of Menashe, from the families of Menashe the son of Yosef.” Why was it necessary to list all their lineage all the way to Yosef? Rashi tells us this teaches us that just as Yosef loved The Land (and asked to be buried there), so did these ‘daughters’.
Rav Moshe Feinstein asks, why did we have to compare their love of The Land to that of Yosef, was it not enough praise for them to say that they themselves loved The Land?
Rav Moshe answers that it teaches us that what we learn to do from generations past through our teachers is more valued than what we figure out ourselves. Therefore, we should gravitate to our teachers, Rebbis and Rabbonim for they pass on to us the closeness to Hashem and the need to do Mitzvos.

CAMP10’S - 30’S
50’S and up overnight
PajamaDay
By Rabbi D. Yankelewitz
Bang! What was that?! That was Week 2 of SDC flying by in all its glory! Homework, tests and report cards are a distant memory. Our pumped campers enjoyed the geshmak and fest week so much that they don’t even want to go home each night! We had to make late nights to keep all that pumping ruach going. More swimming, extra activities, and a delectable supper was consumed by the 20’s, 40’s, 50’s, and CIT’s. The 20’s went on an adventurous treasure hunt, scouring the campus for hidden clues. They even had a quadruple hamburger eating contest at dinner. The winner was disqualified when we found out that he hid half of his burger under his plate. The 40’s thrilling excursion to Launch had them jumping for joy. Flips, bounces, and tons of high flying excitement left them all popping up and down with smiles on their faces!
Red day and hat day were a blast, with campers wearing the most unique or most red paraphernalia that they could scrounge up! The boys who were best decked out got to participate in Rabbi Hildy’s mishuga’as at lunch! From human battle ship to a crazy game of almost musical chairs to an original flip the dice to get to the next area of the room! It was bonkers! Who ever knew that eating could be so entertaining! And let’s not forget the nail biting Red string hunt in the MID’s! It had the whole division tied up in knots!
Our super impressive SDC Sports Leagues began this week throughout camp, from the 20’s to the CIT’s. Trump is aiming for a chance at redemption and a first place finish. As long as Russia doesn’t fix the ballots, they have it in the bag. Each team has their own incredibly devoted Captains to help guide them and lead them to victory. The Senior Division teams love leagues so much that they have a second non baseball league as well. On Thursday, SDC’s world famous Carnival was back! The 40 foot slide was jammed with excited campers climbing the steep mountainous journey to the top and swooshing down to the bottom…. Only to be rocketed back into the air in grand style! The Bungee Trampolines were a huge hit as was the dodgeball pit and snow cone machines!
We are all so super pumped about our upcoming 50’s - CIT’s amazing 2 day overnight! We will be reporting on the whole Six Flags experience, both the park and waterpark as well. We will fill you in on next week’s MID’s Adventureland bonanza as well.
Don't forget that Green Day is on Tuesday! Looking forward to a Geshmakalicious week 3!
Simcha Reporter
LIVE REPORT!
Holey Vamoley!!!! The first full week of SDC 2021 is officially in
the books.
And what a week it was!! It has been so awesome seeing all the
chevra who are back from last year, as well as all our new CIT's who
have joined in for the fun. I'm really enjoying getting to know all of
you-can't wait to get to know all of you better!
Our leagues got started this week-it's been off the heezy. We
got to witness a double overtime basketball thriller-literally one of
the best ball games I have EVER seen!! Shout out to MoMo Hersh
for hitting some wild 3's before eventually succumbing to Sholom
Yovitz's team.
We also had an incredible extra innings baseball game.
Thank you to all the CIT's who helped out with the carnival. So
very appreciated.
Lastly, thank you to all the CIT's for being such a great group of
guys! YOU are the ones who everyone in camp looks up to! Keep
on being your rockin' selves!
Have a great Shabbos!!
