QUALITIEs

BASIC This is our basic cable range.

Rest assured: it’s basic, but it’s good. We ensure you a really good quality, 100% copper core, tin plated contacts, sturdy high-finish plastic connectors, a good and thorough shielding to protect the signal from outside interference, and an overall perfect finishing of the product.

The price/quality ratio cannot be beaten for this cable range.

STANDARD-CHROME Good just became better with this cable range.

It’s a major upgrade to the basic series: even better shielding, thicker cable, silver plated contacts, double injection metal connectors, and a core made of 100% copper.

This cable has it all and will give you full satisfaction.

PROFESSIONAL-TITANIUM Better became professional with this series.

The cable series is made with the highest possible attention to each detail to ensure a perfect transmission of sound, video, and/or data. Perfect shielding, gold plated contacts, sturdy double injection metal connectors, thick cable with OFC (oxygen-free copper) conductors to give you the same quality as you would expect in a concert hall or cinema.

The Titanium range: for sound and image the way it’s meant to be.

PREMIUM-GOLD Our top product line for specialists who expect nothing but the very best.

High-end polyester with a nylon sleeve covering the cable surface, 24-carat gold plated contacts, full gold plated connectors with a special alloy to ensure minimum transmission losses, thick OFC (oxygen-free copper) conductors on the inside and triple shielding on the outside.

This cable is made with only one thing in mind: pure quality, because your high-end devices deserve nothing but the best cables. No compromises were made on these series.

Page 5: Cables Catalogue 2012 - EN

PA C X X X B 0 5 0OXYGEN FREECOPPER As you may know, oxygen is bad for items or cables

made of copper. Copper oxidises and turns green and flaky. Its conductivity decreases, and chances are the

overall audio and video signal quality will suffer. Therefore all our cables are made of ‘oxygen-free-copper’ (OFC). The air volume within the copper mass in OFC is typically 0.0005% or less, as opposed to the average 0.04% in normal copper wire. This reduces the chances of oxidation to a minimum, and ensures optimal audio/video signal quality.

MULTIPLESHIELDED Sometimes one shield simply isn’t enough, for example

if a cable is stored behind a device together with other signal cables or mains cables that can cause

interference. To decrease interference from external sources on the signal transmission, many of our cables have multiple shielding.

FLEX- TECHNOLOGY After a while, many cables exhibit micro-cracks that may

affect the signal quality. With the flex-technology cable cores are fully protected and supported, even when the

cable is bent. The special cable sheath is composed of durable materials which enable the cable to perform flawlessly under the most extreme of circumstances.

ULTRASONICCLEANING PROCESS

Ultrasonic cleaning process: What is the use of an OFC cable if the connection between cable and connector is not optimal? Therefore, our connectors and cable ends

are immersed in an ultrasonic bath for 1 hour before soldering. Thanks to the ultrasonic vibrations even microscopic impurities are removed from cable and connector, thus creating a 100% lossless and durable mechanical connection between cable and connector.

FERRITECORE To reduce interference even more, many of our cables

are equipped with a ferrite core near the cable ends. Ferrite cores are used around cables to suppress

Electromagnetic Interference (EMI). They diminish the extraneous currents in the cables produced by large, nearby Radio Frequency fields such as AM radio transmitters, TV transmitters, etc.

DIGITAL These cables transmit a pure digital signal.

YEARWARRANTY Depending on the cable the warranty can be extended.

Under normal use, our Titanium range has a 3-year warranty; our Gold range 5 years.

High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) is an audio/video interface for transmitting uncompressed digital data. It connects

digital audio/video sources such as set-top boxes, DVD players, or amplifiers to compatible screens, such as plasma or LCD screens.

The 19 wires packed in one cable, offer a bandwidth of up to 5 Gbps (gigabits per second). This is more than twice the bandwidth needed for transferring multiple audio and video channels.

HDMI is superior to its predecessors in many ways. It uses uncompressed digital data as opposed to the old analogue signals. It sends the source information digitally via the cable, resulting in a superb, crisp screen image. Older video interfaces such as SCART and S-Video require separate audio cables, creating a big tangle of wires when using several peripheral devices. HDMI, with its abundant bandwidth and speed, allows for transferring video and up to eight digital audio channels for an uncompromised surround sound. It replaces the tangled mess behind the devices with one single cable, so you can easily set up a home cinema system. HDMI replaces former systems such as SCART and S-Video.

Coaxial (or coax) cable is used as a transmission line for radio frequency signals. Applications include feed lines connecting radio transmitters and

receivers with their antennas, and distributing cable television signals.

The main advantage of coax over other types of radio transmission lines is that the electromagnetic field carrying the signal exists only in the space between the inner and outer conductors. This allows coaxial cable runs to be installed next

to metal objects such as gutters without the power losses that occur in other types of transmission lines. Coaxial cable also provides protection of the signal from external electromagnetic interference.

Coaxial cable differs from other shielded cable used for carrying lower-frequency signals, such as audio signals, in that the dimensions of the cable are controlled to give a precise, constant conductor spacing, which is needed for it to function efficiently as a radio frequency transmission line.

F-connectors are widely used to interconnect terrestrial, cable and satellite TV installations and cable modems, usually with RG-6/U coaxial cable.

TheF-connectorhasgood75Ωimpedancematchupto1GHzandhasusablebandwidthuptoseveralGHz.

The male connector body is typically crimped, or sometimes screwed, on to the exposed outer braid. The cable industry standard now is to use compression fittings. Female connectors have a 3/8-32 UNEF thread (9.525mm diameter). Most male connectors have a matching threaded connecting ring, though push-on versions are also available.

BNC connectors are typically used to terminate coaxial cables in radio, television, and other radio-frequency electronic equipment, test instruments, CCTV and low power video applications.

Their twist-lock mechanism makes them the most durable long lasting video connectors available. Digital recording equipment in recording studios uses BNC connections on cables that carry synchronizingclocksignalsbetweendigitalstudiocomponents.

S-video (Separate Video, also known as Y/C) is an analogue video signal. It transfers brightness (luminance, Y) and colour (chroma, C) information as two separate signals, as opposed to composite

video which carries all the video data in one signal.

S-Video achieves higher quality than composite video, but lower than 3-channel component video cables. It is often used to connect computers, DVD players and VCRstoTVs.Itcarriesstandarddefinition(SD)video(typicallyat480ior576iresolution), but does not carry audio on the same cable.

The most common connector is the four-pin mini-DIN connector.

RGB RCA connectors are commonly used for component video signals.

They are usually colour-coded: red/green/blue for component video, red for the right channel, and white or black for the left channel of stereo audio. These connectors can be found on the most audio and video equipment. It will support high definition up to 1080i and progressive scan signals.

For example, it allows to connect TV sets to camcorders, digital cameras, and video gaming consoles.

SCART (Syndicat des Constructeurs d’Appareils Radiorécepteurs et Téléviseurs) is a 21-pin connector for combined audio and video connections. It is also known as Péritel or Euroconnector.

The SCART system simplifies connecting audio-video equipment (including TVs, VCRs, DVD players and game consoles) by gathering all of the analogue signal connections into a single cable with a unique connector that makes incorrect connections nearly impossible.

The signals carried by SCART include both composite and RGB (with composite synchronisation) video, stereo audio input/output and digital signalling . Stereo audio, composite video, and control signals are provided in both directions. RGB video signals are input only. In addition, a TV can be awakened from standby mode or switched to video mode through a SCART connector.

RCA cables, sometimes called phono or cinch cables, are the most common analogue audio connectors on consumer stereo equipment, CD players, and turntables.

Usually they are colour-coded: red for the right channel, and white or black for the left channel of stereo audio. RCA connectors and cable are also commonly used to carry S/PDIF-formatted digital audio, with orange plugs to differentiate them from other typical connections.

A set of phono inputs is typically available on preamps, mixers or amplifiers, to which a turntable is connected. Most DJ mixers have two or more phono inputs.

RCA cables can be bundled with video cables, to connect devices like VCRs and DVD players to TV sets, or CD players to stereo receivers.

TOSlink is a standardized optical fiber connection system.

Also known generically as an “optical audio cable,” its most common use is in consumer audio equipment (via a “digital optical” socket), where it carries a digital audio stream from components such as MiniDisc, CD and DVD players, DAT recorders, computers, and

modern video game consoles, to an AV receiver that can decode the stream of audio and output it through a set of loudspeakers.

Although TOSLINK supports several different media formats and physical standards, digital audio connections using the rectangular and JIS connector are by far the most common.

RCA cables, sometimes called phono or cinch cables, are the most common analogue audio connectors on consumer stereo equipment,

CD players, and turntables.

Universal Serial Bus (USB) is an industry standard developed to standardise the connection of personal computers to its peripherals, such as keyboards, pointing devices, digital cameras, printers, portable

media players, disk drives and network adapters. USB can both communicate and supply electric power. It has also become commonplace on other devices, such as smart phones, PDAs and video game consoles.

USB 3.0 increases the data transfer rate (up to 5 Gbps), decreases power consumption, increases power output, and is backwards-compatible with USB 2.0. USB 3.0 includes a new, higher speed bus called SuperSpeed in parallel with the USB 2.0 bus. Therefore it is particularly useful for data transfers with high-definition video content, terabyte storage devices, high megapixel count digital cameras, and HD video capture and portable media players.

Twisted pair cables with 8P8C (8 Position, 8 Contact) modular connectors are popular choices for connecting devices over an Ethernet LAN or

WAN, such as computers, printers, network storage devices, and cable or DSL modems.

Connections over twisted pair are cheaper than fibre optic networks, and they are faster and more secure than wireless connections. Most network communications are carried over Category5eorCategory6cablewithan8P8Cmodular

connector crimped on each end. Wiring is according to the TIA/EIA-568-A.1-2001T568Bstandard.Topreventelectromagneticinterference (and cross-talk), shielded cables are available.

8P8C / RJ45 name confusion 8P8C is commonly, but incorrectly, referred to as “RJ45” in the context of Ethernet. 8P8C is a modular connector for Ethernet. RJ45 is a telephone system standard. The plugs used for RJ45 look very similar to 8P8C modular plugs, but they are not compatible.

INFOElastic sleeves are used for bundling and protecting wires, cables and hoses. They are composed of multiple monofilament threads (e.g. nylon, polyester, PET …) braided together.

Nylon sleeves have more strands than polyester sleeves, giving them a smoother feel. They are less susceptible to fraying than polyester sleeves. Due to the tight braiding, nylon sleeves will be less elastic than polyester sleeves, so selected sleeve diameter should be closer to the actual diameter of the cable(s).

Nylonsleevesarecharacterizedbytheirextremeflexibility, high strength, toughness and resistance to abrasion.

Applications: computer/audio cables, automotive wiring…
