PROFILE Burke Rehabilitation Hospital is a 150-bed acute rehabilitation hospital located in White Plains, NY. Opened in 1915, Burke is the only hospital in Westches- ter County entirely dedicated to rehabilitation medicine. Burke is accredited by the Joint Commission and the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facili- ties (CARF). Burke provides intensive inpatient rehabilitation for a broad range of medical conditions. Burke treats patients who have suffered a stroke, spinal cord injury, brain injury, amputation, joint replacement, fractures, cardiac and pulmonary disease, and neurological disorders. Burke follows a program model that provides special- ized care according to each patient’s diagnosis. Patients are usually transferred to Burke from acute care hospitals once their condition is stable and they are able to participate in intense physical, occupational and speech therapy.
