This year sees the launch of our fattened up ‘Scarborough Spa Seaside Series’ - a great run of shows and entertainments with something for everyone – young and less young, locals and seaside visitors...

Please come and see us – remember you don’t need a ticket to pop in for coffee or lunch! It’s a gorgeous stroll across the South Bay and don’t forget our Cliff Lift can take you up onto the South Cliff.

This summer we will open ‘Farrer’s’ – our new bar and bistro. In the room formerly known as the ‘Buffet’, ‘Long Room’, ‘Long Bar’, and ‘Sea View Room’! It will be reopened in May and named after Thomasin Farrer – Thomasin is special to us at the Spa since she discovered the spa waters here that triggered the popularity of both Scarborough and The Spa.

Back to the shows! We kick off in May with Jools Holland and close in September with our hugely popular Jazz Festival. In between we have our traditional Spa Theatre Summer Shows and we welcome back our special Spa Orchestra and Howard Beaumont, our fabulous keyboard player.

This year we also have some great shows in the Grand Hall including concerts from The Straits, The Darkness, Enter Shikari and a host of names from ITV’s Dancing on Ice will appear in ‘Celebrities on Ice’. There’s theatre and ballet plus entertainment for the kids with Magic Mike plus a new exciting show for children which is still in development!

We are pleased to announce that Courtney Pine will headline this year’s Scarborough Jazz Festival with a special concert that will round off a fantastic summer of entertainment at The Spa.

No musician more embodies the dramatic transformation in the British jazz scene over the past 20 years than Courtney Pine C.B.E. The ground-breaking, multi-instrumentalist has led a generation of exciting and innovative players who have broadened their styles to take jazz out to a wider audience.

Debuting material from his 15th studio album to date, House of Legends sees Courtney return to the instrument he is best known for - the saxophone and features his soprano sax exclusively for the first time.

The Walk to the Paradise Garden is a sumptuously orchestrated entr’acte Delius wrote for his most successful opera A Village Romeo and Juliet – the Shakespearian original of which inspired Tchaikovsky to compose his brooding and dramatic Fantasy Overture. Samuel Barber’s ravishingly romantic Violin Concerto is a work both lyrical and stunningly virtuosic. The Hallé’s outstanding former Assistant Conductor Andrew Gourlay rounds off events with his reading of Shostakovich’s fascinating Sixth Symphony. It begins with an extraordinary slow movement and progresses through a scherzo to a triumphant (and wonderfully unruly) conclusion.

The Black Dyke Band is the world’s most famous and contesting brass band and was most recently declared, once again, European Champions in May 2012.

Sir Elton John called them the “SAS of musicians…you get the job done and you do it so well”, when he asked them to take part in An Evening With Elton John.

They have also recorded with Tori Amos, Peter Gabriel, The Beautiful South and released a single on The Beatles’ Apple Records label.

One of the primary catalysts to the emergent New York punk scene, that in turn infiltrated London and beyond. If ever there was a contender for the mother of punk, Patti it is. The punk pioneer fused rock and poetry into a potent musical mix in the late ‘70s with songs like Because the Night and took part in the rise of punk. She still makes music today and her latest album ‘Benga’ was released to critical acclaim last year.
