DEFINITIONS.

1. Concurrent = This is when two programs run at the same time, in the same classroom, with the same instructor.

2. Average Enrollment = Average enrollment over two semesters.

3. Long Block = These tend to be our major lab courses. They are called long block because they are 90 to 150 minutes long.

4. Short Block = These tend to be our introductory courses. They are called short block because they tend to be 50 to 60 minutes long.

ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAM 

Enrollment in Adult Education, Learning Institute, Online, and Custom Training for Employers (7/1/08-12/31/08) was 464.  This is an increase of 110 from the same period the previous year.

ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAM   Vermont Training Program (VT Dept. of Economic Development) funding for the same period in Fall 2008 was received for 212 employees of the following employers:  Mack Molding, Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, Vermont Composites, Vermont Veterans Home, NSK STEERING SYSTEMS AMERICA, Plasan USA, Abacus Automation, Energizer, Pad Print Machinery, Mace Security International, Global Z International, Black Trout Design, Katerin Design.  This surpassed the whole previous year’s total of 189.

ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAM 

Our Online programs continue to grow, now offering 120+ Gatlin Education Services Career Certificate programs up to 6 months in length, in 7 major fields e.g. Health Care & Fitness, Business & Professional, Hospitality, IT & Software Development, Management, Media & Design, and Skilled Trades & Industrial. The Gatlin Career Certificates are industry recognized with many programs to prepare for industry certifications e.g. Comp TIA A+, Net +, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, MCSA, Cisco certifications, National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.  To view the Career Certificate Programs, enter the CDC website, www.svcdc.org and go to the Adult Education Online Instruction Center page.  There you will find a link to the Gatlin Career Certificates. These are national programs with 1500+ college, university, and school partners around the country.

Horticulture program discontinued in 2008. We now have a part time instructor who is building a new “Ag” program with current enrollment of 10 students & growing.

Notes:1.Efforts to boost enrollment are beginning to pay dividends. 16 of the 22 long blocks featured in this presentation are showing an uptick in enrollment this year in comparison to last year. 7 of the 10 short blocks shown shoe either an uptick in enrollment or no change.2. This year our outreach coordinator, faculty and staff are engaged in an aggressive campaign to present our program to students throughout the county. In March alone, major outreach events have taken place in several schools.
