Tie scores within a competitive category will be resolved as follows: 1st tiebreaker: School with the higher head judge score. 2nd-5th tiebreaker: Score sheet competitive categories within event. (See rule book.) 7th tiebreaker: Split points between tied places.
Southwest Suburban JROTC By-Laws
Schools hosting meets are required to publish a competition category time schedule for their
Points accumulated in the standings as a result of the quad meets will be added to the points earned at the conference final. Place finishes for each of the 12 competitive categories will be scored as follows: 1st place = 8 pts, 2nd place = 7 pts, 3rd place = 6 pts, 4th place = 5 pts, 5th place = 4 pts, 6th place = 3 pts, 7th place = 2 pts, 8th place = 1 pts, Non-entry = 0 pts. Total team points from the overall quads standings plus points earned at the conference final will determine the SWSC Conference Champion, and the final season rankings for each school.
All 12 competitive categories will be scored for the conference final.
The Chair is responsible for creating the final season schedule. Each school will host a quad meet. Each school will compete head to head with every other school in the conference at least once during the season at a quad meet. Normally the first quad meets will take place the last week of January, and the conference final will be held the last Saturday in February, or the first Saturday in March. During the season, two quad meets will be held each week. Quad meets will ideally be held on week nights instead of Saturdays. Each hosting school is responsible to coordinate facility space and usage with their respective Athletics and/or Activity Director.
2 weeks prior to a meet.
Quad meets will score all 12 competitive categories listed above. The final points for each competitive category will be determined by adding the points together from all of the judges score sheets. The place finish for each competitive category will earn points as follows: 1st place = 4 pts, 2nd place = 3 points, 3rd place = 2 pts, 4th place = 1 pt.
Total points from all 12 categories will be added to determine the place finish of the schools at the quad meet. The school with the most accumulated points will be awarded 1st place for the meet. Places will be awarded according to accumulated meet points: 1st place = 4 pts., 2nd place = 3 pts, 3rd place = 2 pts, and 4th place = 1 pt. Non-entry will earn 0 points. Teams will split winning points for overall quad meet ties.

VI. Judging
For all team, solo, and duet events, the Team Commander is responsible for informing the Head Judge of the use of lightweight rifles upon check-in. The Head Judge is responsible for deducting 25 points.
The host school for each drill meet is responsible to complete final coordination for sufficient judges to execute their scheduled meet. The host school is responsible to conduct an in-brief with all of the judges prior to the start of the meet.
Following the completion of all category competition, cadets will be encouraged to participate in knockout competitions. Knockout will consist of three categories: 1st year cadet unarmed knockout, open class unarmed knockout, and one formation knockout. Neck medallions will be awarded to the top three finishers in each category.
All protests must be raised with the host school prior to the end of the meet and announcement of the meet results. Ideally they are settled on the spot. Disagreement with how a judge(s) score a competitive category routine is not a protestable item. This includes whether cadet commands were issued or executed properly during the performance, or whether the element committed boundary violations. Protestable items are not having the correct minimum number of cadets on the floor for a competitive category as outlined above, or an exhibition team not staying inside their time limits. In both cases however, judges have this information on their score sheets, and will deduct the appropriate points for these infractions. The host school should also emphasize these points with the judges during their in brief with the judges prior to the start of the meet.
Southwest Suburban JROTC By-Laws
Judges will be drawn from Active Duty, Senior ROTC Cadets, active members of the Reserves and National Guard, as well as VFW and American Legion Post members, retirees, or veterans. Judges will wear the uniform of their service component or organization during the meets. Preference should be shown for judges from the U.S. Army and Air Force, over judges from the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps.
Each competitive category will be judged by at least two, but ideally four judges. Every effort should be made to have at least one U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force judge evaluating every competitive category. The same head judge and same group of judges will evaluate and score every school that enters a given competitive category at a meet. The judging group should not change during the course of a meet for a given competitive category.
