Raith Avenue Allotments Allotments open day. Come and meet the allotment holders. Find out about allotments, what it involves and ask questions.

Friends of Broomfield Park Open Garden to raise money for Broomfield Conservatory, which is run entirely by volunteers. There will be plants for sale and homemade refreshments. There will be a small entrance charge of £2.

JayWalks Guided Walk around 2 conservation areas. The Walkers who dominated Southgate for four generations, appear regularly on this stroll between Southgate Tube and The Green. However there are other personalities who pop up like the minister who played with matches and got his fingers burnt and the Reverend who dealt his daughter a hot potato! Cost £5.

Southgate District Civic Trust

“If you care … have a voice”

Who are we? Southgate District Civic Trust (SDCT) is an active campaigning society, with a strong local presence. We listen, advise, and support our members to be a voice and a champion for the local environment where we live and try to protect, enhance and advance our local community. What do we do?

We talk sense! We enjoy ourselves! We get involved!

Members research the history of the area, producing local history bulletins and publications. We organise meetings open to all on a variety of topics including local history, environmental projects, local issues. Anything interesting!

We lobby the council, our politicians and national bodies when we believe it is necessary. We work closely with Enfield Council on local planning, environmental and social issues. We talk to developers. We are members of Civic Voice, the national charity for Civic Societies and take an active part in discussions on national issues likely to impact us here in north London. Where is our local area of interest? Our area of interest is loosely based on the old Southgate Municipal Borough that was abolished in 1965 when the London Borough of Enfield was created. This area includes:
