Medical Users Co-op SoHum RC has been legally formed in the State of California as a qualified medical cannabis collective or cooperative. We are now able to accept Growers, Dispensaries, and Medical end-users into our organization. Proposition 215, the California Compassionate Use Act, was enacted by the voters and took effect on Nov. 6, 1996 as California Health & Safety Code 11362.5. This law makes it legal for patients, and their designated primary caregivers, to possess and cultivate marijuana for their personal medical use given the recommendation or approval of a California-licensed physician. SB420 (January 1, 2004 as California H&SC 11362.7-.83) broadens Proposition 215 to cover potential transportation and other offenses in certain circumstances. It also allows patients to form medical cultivation “collectives” or “cooperatives” and establishes a voluntary state ID card system run through county health departments. SB420 also establishes guidelines or limits as to how much patients can possess and cultivate. Legal patients who stay within the guidelines should be protected from arrest. SoHum RC, through its highly experienced legal counsel, stays abreast of the important legal issues and challenges to our industry, including such cases as The People versus Patrick K. Kelly and The County of Butte versus the Superior Court of Butte County and David Williams.

Seed-to-Sale QualitySoHum RC devoutly believes that medical cannabis users are entitled to use products that are free of pesticides, micro-contaminants, and other adulterations. They also need consistent potency and reliable dosage amounts. SoHum RC works with its members to create quality standards from “seed-to-sale” that meet or exceed any expected State or Federal mandates; we want to lead, rather than follow. This can only happen with standards, processes, and testing protocols that all our grower members agree to and then self-regulate – well ahead of anything that might subsequently be imposed by government agencies.

Research & DevelopmentMedical cannabis is a controversial issue that affects both the healthcare industry and our society at large. The benefits of prescribed cannabis use as an alternative to conventional medication have long been praised by its users and endorsed by some medical professionals, however, the negative stigma and controversies associated with cannabis use has made it difficult to properly validate its efficacy as a recognized medical treatment.

SoHum RC is actively involved with creating and developing new strains and proprietary blends of whole cannabis plant extracts, including gently processed and unaltered terpenes. Further, we are working with a highly experienced M.D. to put in place Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and reliable quality control standards. We’re also looking to medically validate the benefits of our proprietary blends. We intend to conduct outside studies of these compounds with the informed consent and participation of cannabis patients. We will provide them with private access to clinically-tested, high-quality oils and extracts to identify and verify the best variations or blends to treat certain medical conditions.

Our Distillation CapacityAs part of our ongoing commitment to research and development, SoHum RC has recently invested in a high-tech alcohol distillation unit, a companion chiller, and a special power supply.

This state of the art machine allows us to gently extract the essence of raw buds to produce superior oils with rich terpene profiles. The three step filtration of the oil guarantees purity with all contaminants, waxes, and chlorophyll removed.

We’re creating and documenting a matrix of different plant strains, temperatures, and extraction times to optimize the ratio of THC, CBD, and terpene content to create proprietary blends that target very specific medical ailments and conditions. As we refine our research discoveries, we will be creating additional distillation capacity to meet the anticipated demand for our exceptionally effective oils, tinctures, and whole plant extracts.

SoHum RC’s Grow Location Our family farm is nestled in the foothills 2,500 feet above the Mattole River Valley in the King Range (highest peak; 4,091 feet) of Southern Humboldt County, California. The Mattole River is well-known for its pristine environmental conditions and its annual salmon spawning season. Our locale typically experiences warm days and cool nights ... ideal growing conditions for premium cannabis buds.
