A NOTE FROM OUR SUPERINTENDENT

New Web-Site and Social Media

In early November, Southeast of Saline Schools will be host-

ing a new web-site. After long discussions with staff members and

patrons, it was clear that our current web-site was not as user-

friendly, timely or as informative as it needed to be. The new format

will contain all the information that is currently on our web-site, but

will be organized in a way that will allow for quick reference.

It is our hope with this new format, that we can provide up-

dates on classroom information and events in real time. We would

like to have our web-site be a “one-stop shopping” site where all of

our patrons will be able to find the information that they need. When

it is up and running, we would invite suggestions from our communi-

ty so that we can make the site as informative as possible.

We will provide links to our other social media tools, like Fa-

cebook and Twitter, on the web-site so that we can increase our

patron’s ability to receive relevant information while they are on the

go. Our web address will not change. It can be found at

www.usd306.org.

We would also like to remind you that our District Newsletter

will be published in electronic form and will only be sent via hard

copy to those patrons who have contacted the district.

We want everyone in the district to receive the newsletter in one form

or another. If you know of someone who is not receiving it, please let

us know.

Saturday, November 16 from 9-4. This family-oriented event is held in all three of our gymnasiums and the high

school commons area. It is a major fund raising event for our school which is

sponsored by the SES Education Foundation. We serve homemade food in our

concession stand and offer a rich quality of various vendors from the area and

surrounding states. FREE ADMISSION. We are proud to offer wide aisles and

generous booth spaces which allows accessibility to our families with wheel-

chairs and strollers. The first Prairie Patch event was held 15 years ago with

20 vendors in one gym, my how we have grown!

Parking: As many of you realize, parking is at a premium for this event. We encourage our

SES family to park “far away” from the building or north of the football field in order to allow

our guests preferred parking spaces. Thank you for your consideration.

On October 24th the junior and senior high

choirs had their annual Fall Concert in the

gym. Why the gym? Because it is important

for each of the choirs to see and support

each of the other choirs. It is also a great

way to see and hear the progression of skill

and literature as the choirs progressively

increase in experience. Because of the

numbers of students enrolled in choirs, this

annual concert is held in the gym.

The concert title was, “Love.” The title fits

the theme of a variety of songs songs from

District Choir Auditions One of the greatest honors for vocal music

students in the North Central part of Kansas is to be

selected for the KMEA North Central District Honor

Choir.

Students must prepare three choral pieces which

are selected by a state choral clinician. To

audition, students will be notified what sections of

each piece they will have to sing on the audition

date.

Auditions take place at Junction City High School

and each singer individually provides their voice

part (soprano, alto, tenor or bass) while singing

along with an audition accompaniment CD.

Three teachers listen to each singer, and act as

judges, giving each audition a set of points based

upon a prepared rubric. The top 50 singers from

each section are invited to be members of the NC

District Honor Choir. 31 of our students will be

auditioning.

Auditioning from SES this year are: Freshemen:

Anna Reece, Braydon Boyer. Madison Roths,

Shayla Kuhn, Khendal Wimberly, Hope Reinert,

Gracie Stutterheim, Jazlyn Kingsolver, Derric

Schettler. Sophomores: Jace Stephenson,

including, love for a friend, love at first sight,

loving your neighbor, eternal love, romantic

love, tender love, departed eternal love,

love of football, renaissance love, love of

God, love of music, parental love of a child,

love gone bad and love of a nations’

In preparation, the 8th grade choir had the

special honor of singing 70’ love song

“Longer, “ by Dan Fogelberg, to Mrs. Spare’s

husband, Bruce Spare, as a way to help her

celebrate their wedding anniversary. This

was a pretty special way for the choir to be

a part of celebrating the significance of a

live-long love.
