Pliosaur fossil Dorset County Museum, Dorchester

With a skull and jaws almost two and a half metres in length, these larger-than-life measurements give this pliosaur fossil a certain presence locked in a menacingly gaping, all teeth baring, poise – ready to effortlessly snap its next victim in two.

Ladram BayThese majestic sea stacks showcase the striking, desert-red Triassic rocks of East Devon – the rocks of which were laid down during the dawn of the dinosaurs. The Triassic rocks mark the oldest and most western extreme of the Jurassic Coast.

Take the two and a half hour ‘Jurassic Coast Cruise’ from Exmouth, for the best views of the stunning East Devon coastline. www.stuartlinecruises.co.uk
