From The Editor Matt Selby

Happy Halloween South Tampa!Halloween is one of those

holiday’s that doesn’t hold muchsignificance as far as what it standsfor these days. Originally a con-traction of All Hallows Eve cele-brated by a number of countriesto remember their deceased loveones, this day includes a theme offun and humor to confront thepower of death. I understand thatsome people out there may stillbelieve it’s a pagan tradition, butwhat Halloween is really about in2015 America is getting thechance to be someone or some-thing you’re not for the night.

Little girls tend to gravitatetowards princesses or witches, andlittle boys always seem to be su-perheroes or monsters. My wifeand I don’t have kids yet (al-though with each passing year it’stougher to hold her off) but forat least the past 6 years we’vejoined my young cousins trick ortreating. We love walking aroundwith them, watching their little

faces light up with excitementafter they score a handful ofcandy from each house….well al-most each house, there’s always atleast one home in every neighbor-hood that only allows one pieceof candy per kid and when I saycandy I mean that Werthers hardcandy that no kid likes anyway. You know what I’m talkingabout, that stuff grandma used tokeep on the coffee table that youtried once and never ate again!

The neighborhood hauntedhouses are also a lot of fun and al-most every South Tampa neigh-borhood has at least one guy onthe block that has decided todedicate the entire month of Oc-tober to transforming his homegarage into the perfect scarezone! Many families will driveinto our neighborhoods fromoutside areas just to experiencethese fun little haunted houses.Once a good one is found, it’snot long before a bunch of new

faces start to pour in. Halloween may just be a silly

excuse to play dress up and get abunch of free candy but what’swrong with that? It makes for ex-cellent family time, pictures thatwill be remembered and cher-ished forever and it helps keep

dentists in business due to thehigh spike in cavities afterwards.Just kidding, but seriously, makesure your kids brush their teeth!Stay safe out there and enjoyyourselves! Happy Halloweenfrom everyone here at the Neigh-borhood News & Lifestyles!

Tampa’s trendiest new hot spot,The Hyde Out brings an entirelyunique concept to the South Tampaarea. With it’s intoxicating feel-goodvibe and laid-back lounge atmosphere,The Hyde Out bridges the gap be-tween the Soho crowd, the Westshorebusiness district, Ybor, SeminoleHeights and other surrounding areas, providing a hub where all diversitiescan come together.

The true concept of The HydeOut lies in the name itself. Called TheHyde Out for a reason, the “Hyde” inthe name refers to the famous charac-ter Mr. Hyde in the well-known bookThe Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll andMr. Hyde. If you are unfamiliar, it in-volves the main character having dualpersonalities, one good (Dr. Jekyll)and one more sinister (Mr. Hyde). This is exactly the experience that theywould like to provide to guests.

“We all tend to have two person-alities,” says Managing Partner Kip

Byrne. “This is where our conceptcomes in. It starts off with lunch andhappy hour, and as the day goes onyou start sipping your drink; the lightsgo down, the DJ turns the music upand live music fills the air and we tran-sition into a late night lounge-feel.”So whether you choose to come forlunch as Dr. Jekyll, or release yourinner Mr. Hyde from happy hour intolate night, The Hyde Out provides theperfect opportunity for both!

Integrating art and architecture,The Hyde Out reverts back to the waythings used to be – when people hadpride and integrity in regards to qual-ity and craftsmanship. From the furni-ture to the décor to the lighting andfixtures, every single detail was hand-crafted and custom-designed by localartists and collaborators Kip Byrne, JayGiroux, Joshua Pearson and RobertIbarra.

“We are a craft parlor,” says Kip.“It is our goal to create a fresh experi-ence for you every time you return, whether it is a different day of the

week, a different menu item you aretrying, or a different time of the day. It’s everything coming together thatcreates that feel-good vibe; the light-ing, the sound, the art, the qualitycustomer service. We wanted to breakaway from the norm and offer a com-pletely different experience to ourguests. It’s all about the vibe.”

“I really enjoy the creativity thatsurrounds me,” says Marketing andOperations Manager Courtney Root.“Everybody here, whether it is thechef, the bartenders, the servers, orthe managers, brings their own uniquequalities. It is all so inspiring.”

A fusion of American, Asian,Latin and French cuisine, the food se-lection at The Hyde Out is as uniqueas the concept itself. Crafted with thefreshest ingredients and attention toquality, every aspect of their menu isspecifically tailored to deliver an unfor-gettable experience. From their fabu-lous full-sushi bar, serving uphand-rolled delicacies, to chef DavidMichael creating one-of-a-kind Ameri-can Fusion masterpieces, The HydeOut has a variety and selection that issure to impress even the pickiest ofeaters.

Lunch is a huge hit at The Hydeout, attracting clientele and businessprofessionals from all over Tampa Bay,who come to enjoy a quiet workspace, with plenty of outlets throughout therestaurant, and free WiFi. Fromhealthy fresh mixes, such as theirSpring Love – featuring salmon, shaved asparagus, squash, quinoa, grapes, edamame, and pecorino, tossed in a lemon vinaigrette – andtheir Thai Beef, made with Jasminbrown rice, baby kale, banh mi mix,and Vietnamese sirloin in a kaffir limevinaigrette, to mouth watering sand-

wiches and burgers, such as their PlattStreet Angus Burger – ground angus,house-smoked bacon, white Americancheese, and Vidalia onion jam servedon a fresh brioche bun – their menuhas a bit of everything.

Other healthy options includetheir Sirloin Plate, served with cauli-flower mash, grilled baby bok choy, tied in with a yogurt drizzle, and theirShrimp plate, featuring succulentshrimp accompanied by Jasmin brownrice, broccolini, and a grapefruit tar-ragon poppy seed emulsion.

Hyde’s Philly Cheese Steak is an-other customer favorite, showcasingshaved rib-eye, aged provolone, whiteAmerican cheese, grilled onions andmushrooms on their fresh-bakedhoagie.

Gazing over their dinner menu, the options are just as plentiful, featur-ing many of the same items on theirlunch menu, but with the addition ofa melting pot of American Fusion en-trees; like their Choice Filet – panseared with cauliflower mash, aspara-gus and red wine reduction; or theirShrimp and Grits – Creole-style sautéof jumbo shrimp, asparagus, stoneground cheese grits, chorizo andherbs.

Served open to close, the sushi isanother portion of the menu that youcertainly don’t want to overlook, withtantalizing options such as their NightOwl roll, made with spicy tuna, cu-cumber and avocado topped withsweet shrimp, lemon, yuzu and to-biko, wrapped in yellow soy paper.Other customer favorites include theFull Moon, with baked salmon, creamcheese, krab, and fresh scallops, topped with red and black tobiko.

From newand used machinery, to parts, serviceand rentals, Synergy Equipment isyour one-stop shop for all your equip-ment needs! “For any job you canimagine, if it involves construction, chances are we have it,” says TerritoryManager Ken Caple.

A privately held company that isdedicated to selling high-quality ma-chinery from trusted manufacturers,Synergy Equipment was established in2012, and has since acquired fourlong standing Bobcat dealershipsthroughout Central and SouthFlorida. During the first phase of ac-quisitions, to better serve the needs oftheir customers, they added additionallines of equipment manufacturers totheir dealership model, includingDoosan heavy machinery.

From equipment attachments toheavy machinery, Synergy Equipmentis proud to be your authorized dealerfor Bobcat and Doosan. Browsingthrough their huge showroom, lo-cated at 2910 Overpass Road inTampa, you will find an extensive se-lection of Bobcat equipment for sale, including Mini Excavators, ExcavatorAttachments, All-wheel Steer Loaders,Compact Track Loaders, Skid SteerLoaders, Loader Attachments, MiniTrack Loaders, Telehandlers, UtilityVehicles, and UTV Attachments. Ifyou’re searching for Doosan equip-ment for sale, they are sure to have theright machine to help you get the jobdone!

“We are your one-stop locationfor everything,” says Ken. “We evenhave road mechanics that come to jobsites to help service the equipment. We are heavily focused on providingquality customer service and takingcare of our customers.”

Synergy Equipment understandsthat when it comes to working on ajob site, there are a lot of moving partsthat have to effectively come together

to ensure everything goes as planned.By recruiting and retaining qualityteam members, their company does allthey can to keep the stress level of theircustomers to a minimum. This profes-sionalism, coupled with the high-per-formance machines that they sell, ensures that with everything you have

to worry about, uptime on your equip-ment doesn’t have to be one of them!

Very customer-oriented, from dayone Ken is your point of contact foreverything and anything you need, from start to finish. “I am the liaisonbetween the customer and the dealer-ship,” says Ken. “I am here to help

with everything I can.” Going aboveand beyond, Ken will often even de-liver the parts himself or help by tow-ing the machines into the shop to beserviced. Ken can be reached at (813)352-5009 or by email at [email protected].

Relying on industry expertise tohelp you figure out the perfect pieceof equipment for your upcoming job, whether it is a rental piece or for pur-chase Ken and the trained profession-als at Synergy Equipment will guideyou through their equipment andoffer advice as to ensure that you are

not underpowered or over buying forsomething you do not need.

Once you buy a piece of equip-ment – the exceptional service doesn’tstop there. The parts, service andrental departments are always there tohelp serve you and keep you running.

Affordable Financing There are so many benefits to buyingequipment, one of which can be jobcost/ownership cost. “Ownershipcosts in the first three to five years arevery low,” says Ken. “The overall dol-lar cost and monthly payments to pur-chase machinery and parts are

generally about half of what it wouldcost to rent that same piece of equip-ment.”

In addition to a significantlylower cost, buying your own equip-ment becomes even more enticingwith the special no-interest financingoffered by Bobcat & Doosan, whichincludes 0% interest on new equip-ment for up to 60 months, on somemodels. This is on top of the extraprograms that Bobcat offers on amonthly basis, such as rebates and ex-tended warranties. (Bobcat’s addi-tional programs change from monthto month; call Ken at (813) 352-5009for the most current, up-to-date spe-cials).

When it comes to working withmachinery, quality makes all the differ-ence in the world; not having the rightequipment can easily turn a perfectly

good job site into a disaster. Ken says,“Quality is the biggest characteristic ofBobcat. Long-term Bobcats tend tolast the longest, especially in rough en-vironments where they are exposed toextensive wear and tear. We still havecustomers who have machines fromthe 1980’s. As long as you keep themserviced, Bobcats will last those extrahours, whereas other machines mightbreak down.”

Synergy Equipment is locatedon the corner of 301 and OverpassRoad at 2910 Overpass Road inTampa. For questions or more in-formation please contact Ken Capleon his cell at (813) 352-5009 or byemail [email protected]. Addi-tional info can be found on theirwebsite at www.SynergyEquip.com.

Under Armour Co-Ed Flag Football LeagueBeginning this winter in Tampa is

a nationwide co-ed flag football leaguesponsored by Under Armour andBrothers In Arms Foundation. Theflag football league was created to pro-mote a competitive, confidence-build-ing, non-contact football experiencefor all skill levels. In charge of theTampa chapter is John Kaleo, formerTampa Bay Storm quarterback andowner of one of the top quarterbackacademies in the country (John KaleoQB Academy). John says, “Unlikeother flag football leagues, what mademe gravitate to Under Armour wasthe format we are using; a 7 on 7structure designed to delop eachplayer’s skills. This means there is nopass rush and just a sack count, whichallows the QB to set his feet and de-liver the ball properly while receiversand defenders can develop the timingneeded in the passing game. We alsotransition the kids from the 6 on 6 for-mat into the high school 7 on 7 gamethrough grade levels, so the 7th-8thgraders will play under the HS 7 on 7rules.” When asked what he enjoys

most about this league John said, “Ienjoy watching the development ofour youth in the athletic arena as theylearn to compete while still showingsportsmanship. We also want to bringback the honoring of our Championsand rewarding them with medals andtrophies, instead of everyone getting amedal for participation. The otherthing that is neat about our league iswe play our games on Friday nights sowe have food vendors and music pres-ent for our families. This creates a funatmosphere for everyone.” With mostleagues running on weekends I’m sureparents will be happy with the Fridaynight schedule and keeping the rest ofthe weekend open for any other familyactivities.

The league will consist of thesecore values and principles:• Competitive Co-ed league forgrades K-8th • 6v6 format with sack count• HS 7v7 format for grades 7th-8th• 7 weeks of Games plus Playoffs • 9 players per team so everyone plays• “Friend/Team” request

• Online shopping for discountedUnder Armour apparel • Food & Entertainment for Families

Proceeds will go to the BrothersIn Arms Foundation, which honorsfallen soldiers and provides funding as-sistance to existing organizations, where the need is significant, with an

emphasis on educational opportunitiesand financial assistance for servicemembers, heroic community servants, and their families.

For more information or toregister for the league please go towww.uaflag.com. The season runsfrom December through February.
