SWITCH ON TO FAULT (SOTF) FEATURE:
Settings Of Switch On To Fault (SOTF):
ESOTF = Y
ENCLO = Y
CLOEND = 10.00
EN52A = N
52AEND = 10.00
SOTFD = 500 (This setting for testing should be kept some higher value,
after testing of SOTF function it should be kept as original value) 50H = 1.20
Z2PD = 2000
Z3PD = 2000
Z4PD = 2000
Z2GD = 2000
Z3GD = 2000
Z4GD = 2000
(Keep the Zone time delays {Z2PD to Z4GD} at maximum value for testing of
SOTF function, after testing of SOTF feature change these settings to original
gvalue)
MTO = M2P + Z2G + 50H
Step 1 Click “OMICRON Test Universe
1.51” Icon in desktop.
“OMICRON start page” window
opens.

Procedure For Creating MHO Characteristics Zones:
Step 5 In ‘Parameters For Protection
Device’ > ’Zone Setting’ menu
Click ‘New’ button New Zone will be added
Click ‘Edit ‘ button ‘Characteristic Editor’ window
opens.
In ‘Characteristic Editor >
‘Predefined Shapes’ menu click
‘Circle’ button
It will add mho characteristics
Enter impedance reach value, offset
and line angle values in the ‘Element
list’ window then press ‘OK’ button
Adopt the settings corresponding
to zone 2 for testing the SOTF
function. The same procedure
can be followed for including
any number of Mho
characteristics for testing.

Step 6 In ‘Parameters For Protection
Device’ menu window enter the
parameters in ‘Test Settings’,
This will configure the settings
essential for testing.
Step 7 In “OMICRON Distance –{Test
View: Distance1” window select
‘Parameters > Hardware
Configuration…’
“Hardware Configuration” menu
window opens.

Step 8 In “Hardware Configuration” menu
Click “General > Test Set(s) >
Details”.
“Output Configuration Details”
menu window opens.
Step 9 Select 3 Voltage and 3 current
sources & Click “OK”.
“Output Configuration Details”
menu window closes.

Step 12 In “OMICRON Distance –{Test View:
Distance1” window select ‘Vie
w > Test’.
“Test View” Menu
opens.
Step 13 In “OMICRON Distance –{Test
View: Distance2” window ‘Fault
type’ menu select
‘R-Y-B’ fault.
Fault type cab be selected according to
the element being tested in the MTO
equation.
Step 14 In “OMICRON Distance –{Test
View: Distance2” window ‘Shot’
menu enter the Test point
impedances at line angle to be tested
and click ‘Add’ button for testing
test points.
Enter the test point zone reaches
corresponding to element, which is
being tested in MTO equation and
keep the corresponding zone element
time delay at maximum value in the
SEL 321 relay.

Step 15 In “OMICRON Distance –{Test View: Distance2”
window ‘Settings’ menu enter the parameters for
testing.
-
Step 16 Apply rated DC input to the status input,
which has been assigned to breaker-closing
input.
As soon as the DC input
applied to the status input
which has been assigned
to breaker closing input,
the fault should be
applied to create the
SOTF condition with in
SOTFD set time delay in
the relay.
