    Cable management

Maximum safety andtrouble-free operationThe highly complex infrastructureused to host sporting and enter-tainment events relies on an al-most invisible network of powerand data lines to keep functioning. One of the challenges involved ishow to safely route such largenumbers of cables and wires.OBO systems offer a comprehen-sive range of solutions for everyscenario, from heavy-duty cableladders and wide span systems, tomesh and cable tray systems, tosturdy piping systems.

Easy to fit and wonderfully di-verseAs one of the world’s leading man-ufacturers of cable support sys-tems, OBO proves its competenceon a daily basis. In a range ofsizes and material thicknesses, oureasy-to-fit products can cope withthe most difficult tasks. In a rangeof colours, they can blend in har-moniously with any design conceptif necessary.

Fire protection and function maintenance:Three protection aims

Fires are the true testSporting and event venues placethe utmost demands on safety inthe event of a fire. Safety-relevantsystems have to work for as longas possible in order to protectpeople. With its tested systems forstructural fire protection, OBO ishelping to meet these demands.

Three protection aimsThere are three protection aimsthat have to be met in buildingswhere lots of people congregatefrequently:  1. Limit the spread of fire2. Safeguard escape and rescueroutes3. Maintain the function of impor-tant electrical systems By using OBO systems, architectsand operators can draw on opti-mised components for completefire protection and function mainte-nance in their buildings.

    Insulation

1st protection aim: Limit thespread of fireBy limiting the fire to particularparts of a building, the remainingsections can be protected for acertain amount of time, whichmeans valuable breathing spacefor evacuating people and initiatingextinguishing work.

OBO insulationOBO insulation maintains the in-tegrity of fire areas, which preventsfire and smoke from spreadingquickly. This insulation is designedfor a variety of wall types and forthe various pipes and cables thatpass through them.

    Escape route installations

2nd protection aim: Safeguardescape and rescue routesWhen a fire breaks out everyminute counts, and escape andrescue routes become a building’slifelines. The longer people canuse them for, the higher theirchances of escaping fire and dan-gerous smoke.

OBO systems for escape routeinstallationOBO offers a comprehensiverange of tested fire protection sys-tems with which to safeguard es-cape and rescue routes. Therange includes collecting clampsand cable clamps made from met-al, cable trays, fire protection duct-ing, fire protection bandages andmuch more. Escape route installa-tions are fitted above false ceil-ings.

    Systems for electrical function maintenance

3rd protection aim:Electrical function maintenanceFunction maintenance in electricalsystems means that the flow ofelectricity is not cut off during afire. That in turn means escapeand rescue routes can still beused. Important technical facilities, such as emergency lightning, firealarms, smoke extractors and ex-tinguisher systems, all continue tofunction. The longer these systemsremain in action, the greater thechances are of rescuing people.

OBO systems for electrical func-tion maintenanceOBO systems withstand the heatof fire for a certain period of timewithout impairing the function ofthe cables. From cable trays to ca-ble junction boxes, these productsare all tested in compliance withGerman and international stan-dards.

Safety first:Solutions for external lightning protectionand surge protection

Hot topicNo sports or event venue operatorcan afford a lightning-inducedtechnical equipment failure. Effec-tive protection is afforded by skil-fully and correctly installed light-ning protection systems. Damageis caused just as often by electri-cal surges, which can be triggeredby nearby lightning or by switchingin large electrical systems. The re-sults can be devastating: not onlyequipment damage, but networkfailure and data loss.

Integrated lightning andsurge protection from OBOOBO systems protect people andproperty reliably. Air terminationsystems, conductors and earthingsystems provide external lightningprotection, while equipotentialbonding and surge protectionequipment protects against the ef-fects of lightning current. Only if allthese components are installed isgenuine protection afforded. OBOsupplies all of these elements -perfectly matched and from a sin-gle source.
