    LOCATION, RELIEF AND RIVERS

    1- GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION:

    It comprises part of the Iberian Peninsula, the Balearic Islands, the Canary

    Islands, Ceuta and Melilla

    Location: Northern Hemisphere, south-west Europe

    Area: 505 370 km2

    Surrounded by: Atlantic Ocean, Mediterranean and Cantabrian Seas.

    Fact: 4th largest country in Europe

    The Peninsula

    Centre:the Meseta (submesetas norrte and sur) Around the Meseta (mountain ranges): Cordillera Cantabrica,

    Macizo Galaico-Leons, Sistema Ibrico, Sierra Morena

    Beyond the Meseta: Ebro and Guadalquivir (valleys); The Pyrenees,

    Cordilleras Costero-Catalanas and Sistemas Bticos(Mountainranges)

    The coast: cliffs and riasin the north

    Islands

    The Canary Islands: Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote,Fuerteventura, La Palma, El Hierro and La Gomera. There are

    volcanoes such as the Teide

    The Balearic Islands:Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, Formentera and
