ETHICS

6 | CFA SOCIETY NETHERLANDS

VBA and CFA Society Netherlands joined forces and brought you:

ETHIEK & INTEGRITEIT:

CFA Society Netherlands presented the fourth in the annual series of Best Practices Seminars. The 2016 edition focused on Best Practices in Portfolio Construction and was held on 13 October 2016.

Special thanks to our venue sponsor:

ANALYST WORKSHOP: Identify and Monitor a Stock’s Critical Factors conducted by James J. Valentine, CFA Analyst Solutions.

CAREER MANAGEMENT

10 | CFA SOCIETY NETHERLANDS

Career Events - Aim to update members’ skills or put them in touch with employers or members of the financial community through job fairs, meet and greets, networking opportunities and more. Examples of such events:

Are You Presenting Your Best Resume for The Job? - In 15 minute one-on-one sessions (speed interviews), attendees introduced themselves to the Financial Assets’ consultants after they had the chance to read their CVs. The consultants then shared first impressions and in particular talked through any gaps there might have been between impressions and the resume’s stated purpose.

Steer Your Own Career - Take control over your career. You decide what your next step will be (not the management development department). Together with Partners at Work, we shared professional experiences and discussed what is necessary to make the next step to boost your career opportunities.

CFA SOCIETY NETHERLANDS | 11

Jobline is the central job portal offered by CFA Institute. A Local JOBLINE for the NETHERLANDS

Mentorship Program – This program is part of our wider effort as a Society to support our Members in managing their careers. With the launch last year, we joined a growing number of CFA Societies globally running such a program, clearly underlining that the value of mentoring is accepted across cultures and continents.

ADVOCACY & OUTREACH

20 | CFA SOCIETY NETHERLANDS

Advocacy involves increasing the public awareness and recognition of the CFA Charter by building and maintaining relations with the regulatory agencies and other professional organizations. We speak to relevant interest groups such as local regulators, professors, human resource managers and the media.

The benefit of public awareness is two-fold:

1. It has a direct positive impact on you as a Charterholder as your CFA designation will gain in recognition and influence and distinctiveness in the local market.

2. The CFA Institute has a positive impact on standards within the local capital markets and influences regulation.

Media Outreach – we have a column in the Financial Investigator and write articles for IEXprofs.nl. Journalists often attend our events providing media coverage from the content or interviews with speakers. We plan to have our 2nd Media Academy for journalists in the autumn.
