Overview:
Attendees will be introduced to Ms. Joseph's experience working with historicbuildings - adaptive reuse and new construction. Respecting the essential structure and meaning of existing architecture informs a new design solution. The work preserves valuable assets of the infrastructure while making a fresh, new intervention that has a strong reductive reading. Sustainability is thought about in an innovative, integrated way that ranges from materiality to active design. Wendy Evans Joseph founded her practice in 1996 after more than a decade working with Pei Cobb Freed & Partners. After graduating from Harvard University Graduate School of Design, she was a recipient of the prestigious Rome Prize in Architecture, Ms. Joseph was a Fellow at the American Academy in Rome. She was elected into the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects and is an Academician of the National Academy of Design. Known for leadership roles as President of the Architectural League and the AIA’s National Committee on Design, her focus is on boldly conceived design that works with context in a meaningful way. Studio Joseph has garnered over a 100 design awards and is recognized internationally for its work.
