Reflections on 2014/15 Work Programme
2015 Monitoring Report
▶ €15.9b allocated to 9,087 projects in 2014/15, with
36.1% going to Societal Challenge pillar.
▶ UK continues to do well: received 15.4% of EU funds in
2014/15 (€2.45b) – second only to Germany (17.7%)
▶ Total of 144 grants signed in 2014/15 Work Programme
for SC6 (49 in 2014 / 95 in 2015)
▶ UK received €38.6b (15%) under SC6 for 2014-15, the
highest of any Member State.
▶ Success rates in SC6 continue to be an issue – 8.9% in
2014 calls and 4.2% in 2015 (average for H2020: 11.8%)

Overview
▶ Currently under development, expected to be released
in late October 2017.
▶ Will cover period 2018-20, with final year expected to
be left indicative.
▶ Has been shaped from a number of sources, notably the
Expert Advisory Group Report, as well as a stakeholder
consultation and reports from conferences.

Net4Society Report
▶ Net4Society is an international network of NCPs for
Societal Challenge Six
▶ For every Work Programme, N4S produce a report on
the ‘Opportunities for Researchers from the Socio-
economic Sciences and Humanities (SSH) in Horizon
2020’
▶ Compiles the EC’s SSH-flagged topics, with SSH aspects
within call texts highlighted in bold
▶ Also identified topics with ‘minor SSH relevance’
▶ Current 2016-17 report can be found here
SSH included in Evaluation
▶ Proposals submitted for topics 'flagged' for
SSH should contain meaningful, integrated
contributions from SSH researchers
▶ Evaluators briefed on how to identify and
evaluate SSH aspects
