With almost all organisations now using social media, how do you ensure that you’re being heard? How do you effectively interact with the people - the donors, volunteers, staff, and beneficiaries - who matter to you?

At Social Misfits Media we help charities and social enterprises think strategically about their digital presence. We work with our clients to better engage with those critical to their success by creating dynamic social media strategies for marketing, campaigning, and fundraising.

We are about to celebrate our 3rd birthday, and we are incredibly proud of what we have accomplished to date. However, we believe that the right leader can take the business to the next level, and so we have begun the search for a full-time Chief Executive.

I.G. Advisors

Social Misfits Media was founded by the team at I.G. Advisors. I.G. is a strategy consultancy specialising in philanthropy, corporate impact, and fundraising advice. The two companies work closely – we like to think of ourselves as one business with two different shop-fronts. Many Social Misfits Media clients are also clients of I.G., but on the whole they are two very distinct and separate entities – and the ethos, branding, and overall objectives of both organisations reflect this.

Since 2011, I.G. Advisors has supported a wide range of individuals and organisations on their social impact journeys. The team works with both individual and institutional donors to maximise their impact and ensure their giving needs meet social and business objectives, as well as with charities and social enterprises to diversify and sustainably grow their income.

I.G. Advisors focuses on three core services, which include philanthropy, corporate impact, and fundraising. On the philanthropy side, the team works with individuals, families, and foundations to develop dynamic philanthropic strategies, and provide support and counsel throughout the implementation process. In addition to their philanthropic work, I.G. works with companies to develop and implement strategies for maximising their social return on investment, as well as working with charities and social enterprises on their fundraising strategies.

Social Misfi ts Media was established after Carlos Miranda, the founder and CEO of I.G. Advisors, was increasingly being asked by clients about the role of social media in philanthropy and fundraising. Social Misfi ts Media has grown and expanded into many areas – with highlights including:

• Our series of free social media publications - We have partnered with organisations including Facebook, Twitter, and JustGiving, and our guides have included interviews with experts like Claire Diaz Ortiz, Manager of Social Innovation at Twitter, and Karla Geci, Facebook’s Head of Media Partnerships in the UK. These have had extensive press coverage in The Guardian, and have been used by charitable and nonprofi t organisations worldwide.

• High-profi le events with leading organisations and social media platforms - Our last event, the ‘Future of Social,’ featured the Head of Marketing from Facebook, Kevin McSpadden, the Head of Community at Instagram, Amanda Kelso, and the Chief Marketing Offi cer of JustGiving, Charles Wells, with Nonprofi t Innovator and Social Media Expert Beth Kanter as the keynote speaker.

• A partnership with Facebook - Social Misfi ts Media and I.G. Advisors are 2 of 3 partners in the FB Start Program, which is aimed at providing training to charities and nonprofi ts on behalf of the platform.

The future of the ‘social media for social good’ space is bright, especially within the UK and Europe. Our goal for the future of Social Misfi ts Media is to actively become the key thought leader, with the ultimate aim of becoming the ‘go-to’ shop for social media advice for social impact organisations. The newly-appointed CEO will help develop the strategy, expand the business into new areas, deepen existing relationships, and establish new partnerships.
