Objectives︰1. To accord recognition to individuals, corporates, organisations and CIIF-funded

project teams who have contributed to the development of social capital in HongKong;

2. To encourage corporates and organisations to develop social capital;

3. To motivate cross-sectoral collaboration; and

4. To mainstream the concept of social capital.

• Set up by the Government of HKSAR in 2002.

• To implement diversified social capitaldevelopment projects in the community,promote reciprocity between the public anddifferent sectors, and build together cross-sectoral collaborative platforms and socialsupport networks.

• As of July 2020, CIIF had processed 31batches of applications and funded 444projects with a total of HK$785 million.

What is social capitalSocial capital refers to the institutions, relationships and normsthat shape the quality and quantity of a society's socialinteractions. Social capital includes social norms (personalattitudes and social values), networks and institutions.

Social capital can enhance social inclusion, strengthen solidarity,and developed a more caring and harmonious society. Mutualsupport among individuals, families and organisations canstrengthen the community, which is important for economicprosperity and sustainable development of society.

• Kicked off by the Chief Secretary for Administration and Secretary for Labour and Welfare;

• Witnessed a record high of over 550 awardees from various sectors.

Awards Eligibility Remarks

Social Capital Builder Logo Awards

Commercial entities or organisations in publicand private sectors with achievements inbuilding social capital in Hong Kong in 2018-20.

• Commercial entities registered with the Certificates ofIncorporation, and organisations in public and privatesectors, such as government departments, statutory bodies,chambers of commerce, professional bodies, educationalbodies, universities or tertiary educational institutions,medical institutions etc.

• Organisations, associations and unions that offer socialwelfare services and set up to fulfil a particular communitypurpose. The organisation needs to operate at an individuallocation/specific locations/more than one location etc.

Outstanding Social Capital Partnership Awards

Individuals and corporates/ organisations whoparticipated in CIIF-funded projects in 2018-2020.

The Awards must be nominated by CIIF-funded project teams.Interested individuals and corporates/organisations shouldcontact their respective CIIF-funded project teams for details.

Outstanding Social Capital Project Awards

CIIF-funded projects implemented in 2018-2020.

CIIF-funded project teams can submit self-nominations.Interested project teams should contact the CIIF Secretariat.

Six core social capital dimensions will be adopted toassess the achievements of the applicants;

There are 4 development stages for each dimension,

namely Basic >Fair>Good>Excellent

To meet the basic requirement of SCB Logo Awards,corporates/organisations must have engagedthemselves in social capital building in 2018 to 2020and have achieved “Fair Development” in at leastfour of the six core social capital dimensions.

Corporates/organisations should complete the self-assessment of social capital development in theapplication form. The CIIF Secretariat will furtherassess based on the submitted form andsupplementary documents.

Assessment Sample of SCB Logo Awards

• Having served Wong Tai Sin district for many years, HoHo MedicalGroup (HoHo) understands the needs of the district well. To help theelderly living in the district, HoHo has participated in the volunteerwork organised by a NGO named Hong Kong Association of SeniorCitizens (HKASC) since 2015. In 2018, HoHo further collaborated withHKASC to launch a 3-year project “HoHo Community Campaign”.

• Initiatives of “HoHo Community Campaign” include: 1) Distribution ofgift packs to elderly in need during festivals (CNY, Dragon-boat festival,Mid-autumn festival and Christmas); 2) Arranging a volunteer teamthat comprises medical staff to provide health talks and consultation tothe elderly; 3) Arranging volunteer medical staff to visit the elderlyonce a month for basic health assessment; 4) Taking part in HKASC’s“Healthcare Committee” to give advice and provide arrange referralsusing their expertise and network.

• Project outcome: 1) Provided health consultation and basic healthassessment to 1000 elderly living in Wong Tai Sin; 2) Further built itscorporate brand in the community by winning the "OutstandingVolunteer Awards“ in 2019; 3) Increased the sense of belongings andjob satisfaction among their staff.

CIIF-funded projects implemented in 2018-2020 with the following outstanding performance: Building social networks effectively; Innovative; Promoting social capital effectively; Project outcome assessed by objective methodology; Establishing best practice for the sustainable

development of social capital.

CIIF-funded project teams can submit self-nominations. Interested project teams should contact the CIIF Secretariat.

Assessment Procedures

Preliminary stageCIIF Secretariat will assess the

application based on the submitted form and supplementary documents

Shortlisted applicants of Outstanding Social Capital Partnership Awards and Outstanding

Social Capital Project Awards will be invited to the adjudication meeting in late September to

Early October .

Corporates/ organisations/ CIIF-Funded project teams should submit the

application form and supplementary documents by 18th Sep 2020.

A confirmation email with application number will be sent to the applicants

within 7 working days upon submission.

2nd stage (Social Capital Builder Logo Awards)

The list of awardees will be submitted to the CIIF Committee for endorsement.

(Outstanding Social Capital Partnership Awards and Outstanding Social Capital Project Awards) shortlisted applicants will be invited to the

adjudication meeting

About Eligibility

Is it possible to submit more than one application?

- Each corporate/organization can submit one application only;- Subsidiaries, branches or operating units with business registration

can submit a separate application.

Can public institutions, religious or political groups apply for this awards?

- Yes. Publ ic institutions and corporates such as governmentdepartments, statutory organizations (e.g Hospital Authority,religious and political groups), chambers of commerce, mutual aidcommittees, associations, professional organizations, educationalorganizations, universities or colleges, medical institutions, socialservice organizations, etc. are eligible.

Can online store/small shop apply for this awards?

- Any legally registered corporates/ organisations in Hong Kong withcontribution to the building of social capital in 2018-20 are welcometo apply.

About Submission

What kind of supplementary documents are required?

- They can be photos, promotional materials, event reports, lettersof appreciation, websites, internal memos, media coverage etc.

- Consent must be obtained from the parties concerned for disclosureof personal data in the documents.

Can I submit the application form and supplementary documents separately?

- Completed application form must be submitted together withsupplementary documents before application deadline.

About Assessment

Is there a fixed number of awardees? - There is no preset number. Applicants fulfilling the basicrequirements of the respective awards will be awarded.

Will CIIF revise the self-assessment part in my submitted application form?

- The Secretariat will assess the application based on the documentssubmitted by the applicant and reserves the rights to makeamendments accordingly.

Outstanding Partnership and Project Awards

Can I nominate a collaborative partner who has not started working with us?

- In order to assess the participation and contribution of thecollaborative partner to social capital development, nominees shouldbe in on-going or completed partnership with the nominators.

Are all nominated individuals, corporates, organisations or project teams required to attend the adjudication meeting?

- Only shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend. The Secretariat willinform the shortlisted applicants in late September of the arrangement.

If my company has partnered with more than one CIIF-Funded Projects, do we need to submit several nomination forms?

- Each corporate or organization can only be nominated once, eithermade by one project team or in the form of joint nomination. Pleaseliaise with the project teams and submit one application only.

Can we apply for Outstanding Project Awards if our CIIF-funded project was completed in mid-2019?

- All CIIF-Funded projects carried out within 2018-20 are eligible to apply.
