Tally Your Score
To find out how you scored, count the number of times you answered A, B, C, and D. Each letter corresponds to one of the categories below. The more times you answered with one letter, the more likely you are suited to
that volunteer job category. For example, if you answered most often with C, then you fit into the Artist category and should look for a position that will allow you to tell stories, paint, or do crafts.
11/13 What Kind of Volunteer are You?
Here’s a look at the volunteer categories and the types of jobs that belong to each:
AthleteIf you mainly answered with A, then you’re a sporty, outdoorsy person. You’re probably energetic and may be a natural leader. You should look for work that will let you be out in the fresh air, or something that will allow you to take a more active role.
Ideal volunteer activities: water and keep the garden or wildlife habitat in your schoolyard free of litter and garbage; organize playground games for younger children to play during recess.
ManagerIf B was your most common answer, you’ve probably got a good eye for detail. You’re a well-organized person who can bring order to group projects. Look for jobs that will allow you to take control, make decisions, and or-ganize. Your strengths will be in working with others and keeping track of things.
Ideal volunteer activities: help to plan and organize a dragon parade for your class to cel-ebrate Chinese New Year; arrange for a used clothing drive at your school to help others.
12/13 What Kind of Volunteer are You?
Artist If your answer sheet has a lot of Cs on it, then it’s also likely to have a lot of doodles. You’re an artist, and you should look for jobs that will let you flex your creative muscle.
Ideal volunteer activities: design a bulletin board at school to display children’s art work; read stories to younger kids at the library.
Team PlayerIf most of your answers were Ds, then you are ready to fill many different roles. As a team player, you can always be relied on to get a job done. Once an idea is in place, you’re the one who can work with others to complete a job. And you’re ready to lend a hand when some-one really needs help.
Ideal volunteer activities: collect tickets and seat guests for a school play or concert; assist younger children who need help with their homework.
13/13 What Kind of Volunteer are You?
Whatever your answers are, there are volunteer opportunities for you. Your parents and teachers can help you find the job that’s right for you. Volunteering is a great experience, a lot of fun, and will make you and someone else feel great.
