Preparation:Cutting shade: Trace Shade shape onto water color paper. Cut out with scissors.About 1” apart, punch a small hole to hang bells from across the bottom using the ice pick. Or you can add less, just punch less holes, just make them spaced the same.Background Using the size 16 Shader brush, basecoat shade with French Grey Blue. While paint is still damp slip slap Winter Blue in the sky area. Pick up a little water as needed to keep surface damp, so

paint will blend. Pick up White and paint swirls in the sky. Let dry.Painting Instructions:SnowmanPaint the snowman’s head, body, tree trunks, and arms with Lt Buttermilk.Shade with Honey Brown. Highlight with White.Dry brush the nose with Heritage Brick and paint the stripes on arms and tree trunks. If you notice, the stripes on the arms and tree trunks are “outside the lines”, this is ok.Dry brush White down the trunks and across the arms to highlight.Paint the nose & neck with Honey Brown, shade and line with Soft Black.Paint twig hair, eyes and lightly outline the snowman’s body with Soft Black. Dot eyes again with White. A smaller dot.Paint the buttons and trees with Irish Moss.Shade buttons and trees with Evergreen. Highlight trees and buttons with White and add dots to trees.Paint the stars and moon with Golden Straw. Shade with Honey Brown.Highlight with White. Paint the string & button thread with Soft Black.Paint the vine across the top, the snow across the bottom and the grass with White. Add Heritage Brick dots to the vine and grasses.

Finishing:Apply double stick tape to one end of shade. Roll your shade and fasten the two ends together. The tape will allow you to adjust the shade until you get the desired fi t. After you get the fi t you want, gently pry the shade apart half way along the tape. Apply glue. Repeat on the other end. Clothespin together. Let dry. If using hot glue, apply the same as above, but hold with your fi ngers until dry. Repeat on the other end.If you haven’t cut the end even, you can trim it now.Finish with several light coats of Americana Acrylic Spray Sealer/Finisher – Matte.Tie bells into the holes in the bottom of the shade us-ing the crochet thread.
