Holiday Club is finally here!
This last Wednesday, the Holiday Club leaders of week two came together for another
worship night. There’s a certain level of expectancy
when we gather together like this – people come hungry for a move of God, wanting to see
Him work in ways they haven’t experienced before.
This worship night was nothing less than an incredible
testimony to the greatness of God, not just over the last two
weeks but consistently in people’s lives. The evening starting with the Lifehouse skit
called “Everything” challenging individuals to give themselves
only to Jesus and not to anything of this world. Mark
then preached about the presence of God and prioritising time with Him.
What followed was a great
time of singing and worship with words like “Great in power, great in glory, great in
mercy, King of heaven” and “So I shout out Your name,
from the rooftops I proclaim that I am Yours” and “My heart will sing no other name,
Jesus.”
During the last song of worship, leaders came up to give testimonies about the
great things that God has done – healing from depression,
provision and guidance, changing of hearts, and
forgiveness. We celebrated how incredibly God has moved in the lives of the leaders.
We give glory to God for nights
like this where we can revel in His presence and glorify Him
for the things He has done.
Truth and testimonies
Holiday Club continues beyond
What a two weeks we have had:
Over 700 children attending our two
holiday clubs, about 150 teenage leaders leading, hearing of children and teenage
leaders accepting Christ as their personal
Saviour, children receiving a Bible for the very first time the list goes on and on.
As pastor I was blessed by:
the creativity that Robyn and her team
displayed in putting this holiday club together,
the adult "spiritual parents" who came every night to connect and interact with
the teenage leaders,
the young adult leaders who worked tirelessly to lead teenage leaders to
help children to come and experience the hope that we have in Christ,
people working behind the scenes to makes sandwiches, and register
children,
people who gave sacrificially to help us cover some of the cost for the holiday
club ministry. last Friday night's parent evening.
Most of all what excites me is the fact that we as a church have had kingdom
impact. We have been able to reach way beyond our own boundaries as a church
and helped children to come and
experience the love of Christ. Some of these never hear the gospel in their own
homes.
Now the work goes on… from prayer
requests, it is clear that we would have to continue ministry to the families.
Pray with us that God will help us by
providing others who will now understand
that God wants to use them to continue the work that he has started in the lives of
these children and their families. -Riaan Niemand
