Additional steps to better secure the connector were introduced beginning with serial number AS1017 and the process was further refined starting with serial number AS1039. This connector is in the process of being redesigned to allow for a more secure connection. Q) - I have an SMT tower unit (1500va or less) that is completely DOA and will not respond to a Cold start or

show any other signs of life. What other troubleshooting can I do?

A) - This behavior may be caused by the display ribbon cable being disconnected or loose. Additional steps to

better secure the connector were introduced beginning with serial number AS1017 and the process was further

refined starting with serial number AS1039. This connector is in the process of being redesigned to allow for a

more secure connection. The issue only affects some units while in transit and has never been experienced

after a unit has been deployed in production.

Step 1 - Unplug the unit from the wall, then disconnect the battery by pulling on the connector on the rear

panel. Remove the battery from the UPS.

Step 2 - Verify that the display cable connector is firmly seated on the PCB inside the UPS by pressing on

the connector.

Please note that the cable is tied to the board with a zip-tie and may visually appear to be connected when in fact it is not. There is a ferrite bead in front of the connector that may make it difficult to see the actual cable connector. The cable should be seated firmly in its socket.

Step 3 - Verify that the cable is also connected on the bezel side by pressing firmly on the connector in the

bezel as well.

Step 4 - Reinstall battery, reconnect battery at rear of UPS, and start the unit.
