We may have a lot in common with the mainland, but our culture is what really sets us apart from other u.S. and international destinations. Puerto Rico’s vibrant blend of diverse cultures can be seen everywhere from the colonial architecture in old San Juan and other towns, to the many year-round folkloric festivals throughout the Island.

NIGHTlIfE We know when it’s time to roll up our sleeves and get things done, but we also know how to have fun. And we do it well. Casinos, lounges, nightclubs and cafes abound in metropolitan areas like old San Juan, Miramar, Condado, Santurce and Isla Verde. Better start practicing your salsa!

THE ArTS An artistic spirit seems to be inherent in the people of Puerto Rico. You literally can’t walk past a building without seeing a brightly painted mural or seeing people dancing to the rhythms on our streets during festival week. The arts scene is extensive with plenty of galleries, museums, concerts, opera, and theaters to enjoy.

fOOD & DrINkNo visit to Puerto Rico is complete without a thorough sampling of our food. Try a traditional Island dish like asopao, tostones, or mofongo. Visit our restaurants for some of the finest cuisine in the world and don’t forget to sip a piña colada, invented here. Puerto Rico is the world’s leading rum producer. You can visit the Bacardi Rum Distillery, located across the San Juan Harbor.

Known as “The Island of Enchantment,” Puerto Rico is a place of breathtaking beauty and bounty. one of the first to notice was Christopher Columbus. He came to our Island on his second voyage to the New World in 1493. Puerto Rico quickly became one of Spain’s most important military outposts in the Caribbean. In 1952, we became a u.S. Commonwealth, and today Puerto Rico enjoys one of the highest standards of living in Latin America.

Overlooking the beautiful San Juan Bay, our comfortable guest rooms lie in the heart of the “Old City’s” inviting historic sites, world-class shopping and exciting nightlife. Add to that tempting restaurants, a lively Casino, rooftop pool with panoramic views and there is no wonder our guests choose the Sheraton Old San Juan Hotel & Casino.
