Dates December 11 –December 17 , 2017 INTRODUCTION Cities are centres of innovation and creativity, but they face great challenges from rapid urbanization, climate change and increasing pressure on city services like transport and healthcare. Smart cities are widely used seek to address these challenges and this concept is viewed as a one of solution for Indian cities to better cope with key challenges like physical infrastructure, energy transition, mobility and social innovation through extensive and effective use of technologies. This program is based on lectures, interactive workshops and site visit. It will offer an overview of challenges, methodologies, and solutions for planning and development smart cities. OBJECTIVES OF COURSE i. Identify and apply a systematic, strategic planning approach for developing implementation design of Smart Cities ii. Building a knowledge base of the latest technological innovations, strategies, and policies being developed by industry and academia that are being deployed in cities iii. To offer a better understanding of past experiences, design of infrastructure and the need of balancing top-down and bottom-up approaches in the smart city planning process. iv. To give an overview of the emergence, structure, and strategies of digital, smart, and intelligent cities. COURSE MODULES MODULE 1 : Intelligent Cities – Smart Cities: Concept and Definitions. Genesis of Intelligent Cities: Evolution of Innovation Systems MODULE 2 : Genesis of Intelligent Cities: Evolution Of Digital Spaces. Structure of Intelligent Cities MODULE 3 : Architectures of Spatial Intelligence of Cities. Innovation and Knowledge Functions of Intelligent Cities. MODULE 4 : Typology and Key Strategies for Intelligent Cities. Strategic Planning for Intelligent Cities MODULE 5 : Governance. Smart City Applications Design and Development Course Module also includes Tutorials, Site visit and Group work. WHO CAN ATTEND? Planners, Architects, Engineers, professionals from Industries, Faculties of planning, architecture and researchers from planning schools, IITs, NITs, SPAs, and professionals from government organizations, urban local bodies, research institutes and consultancy firms.
