The Action Plan Target 2005-06 of the Institute has been drawn up in 3-year perspective based on the inspiring ideas emerged in the Senior Officers’ Meeting held under the Chairmanship of AS & DC, SSI on 14-03-2005. it shall be our endeavour to help to set up more and more SSI units through result oriented programmes and support modernize and upgrade technology of the existing units through technology transfer and promote technically and commercially viable units in new and emerging areas of the State. While executing the Action Plan Target, the following points will be kept in mind:

F O R E W O R D
Systematic and sincere effort makes it much easier to achieve a goal. The Annual Action Plan Target for the year 2005-06 is an effort to plan the annual work of the Institute for achieving them successfully. Small Industries Service Institute, Kolkata and its Branch offices at Siliguri, Durgapur, Suri and Port Blair are functioning in the whole of West Bengal and A & N Islands. In view of changing economic scenario and promotional role, this Institute every year attempts to take up the different activities and programmes found relevant for the promotion of SSI and SSSBE. Development Commissioner, Small Scale Industries, New Delhi also fixes Annual Core Programme/Action Plan Targets tradewise for all the SISIs functioning in different States of the country. Thus, while drawing out the Annual Action Plan Targets of the Institute and its Branches for 2005-06, the Core Programme/Action Plan Targets fixed by DC (SSI), New Delhi and different activities and programmes found relevant and important have been incorporated. Accordingly, the present Action Plan emphasizes to build up entrepreneurs in far-flung rural areas by conducting motivation/awareness campaign, EDPs, MDPs and other programmes. In this regard, sanction fund will be allotted first to those programmes. After conducting programmes specially EDPs, follow up action will be taken to assist the participants to which at least 10% of the participants can set up their venture. The comments and suggestions as endorsed by Department of C & SSI, Govt. of West Bengal, various Industry Associations, KVIC, NGOs and individual industrialists have also been given due consideration. I hope that all of our officers and staff will put in their sincere efforts to achieve the target (both physical and financial) within the target year and help accelerate the pace of industrialization. April, 2005 ( N. N. Debnath ) Director.
