1 Information on this Document Validity This document describes the correlation between the event messages of the SMA devices, the detailed description of the messages and the error code that is displayed in data loggers such as the SUNNY PORTAL and SUNNY WEBBOX. This document does not contain any information on the SMA devices that generate the event messages. Information on such SMA devices is available on our website.

3 Event Messages The following table compares the SMA device event messages that are, for example, shown on the display ("Brief description" column) with detailed suggestions for eliminating the error ("Long description" and "Corrective measures" columns). The individual rows in the table are linked with the associated old and new event number. Old event numbers: column A contains the first part (max. three digits) of the five-digit event code that is shown on the display. Column B contains the second, two-digit part of the event code that is additionally shown in event logs, e.g. in Sunny Portal or in the Sunny WebBox logs. New event numbers: the format of the event numbers has been changed. In order to safeguard downward compatibility, there are different ways of displaying event numbers between 1 and 99. These are shown in the column separated by a comma. Placeholder in the event messages

• The mains voltage at the termination point of the inverter is too high. • The grid impedance at the termination point of the inverter is too high.

The inverter disconnects itself from the electricity grid for safety reasons.

• Check the mains voltage and grid connection on the inverter. If the mains voltage is outside the permissible range due to local grid conditions, ask your network operator if the voltage can be adjusted at the feed-in point or if it would be acceptable to change the monitored operating limits.

The mains voltage has fallen below the permissible range. This error can have the following causes:

• Electricity grid disconnected • AC cable damaged • The mains voltage at the termination point of the inverter is too low.

The inverter disconnects itself from the electricity grid for safety reasons.

• Check the triggering of the miniature circuit-breaker. • Check the mains voltage and grid connection on the inverter.

If the mains voltage is outside the permissible range due to local grid conditions, ask your network operator if the voltage can be adjusted at the feed-in point or if it would be acceptable to change the monitored operating limits.

002 03 203 Grid undervolt. slow Mains voltage is too low.

The mains voltage has fallen below the permissible range. This error can have the following causes:

• Electricity grid disconnected • AC cable damaged • The mains voltage at the termination point of the inverter is too low.

The inverter disconnects itself from the electricity grid for safety reasons.

• Check whether the miniature circuit-breaker has tripped. • Check the mains voltage and grid connection on the inverter.

If the mains voltage is outside the permissible range due to local grid conditions, ask your network operator if the voltage can be adjusted at the feed-in point or if it would be acceptable to change the monitored operating limits. If the mains voltage lies within the tolerance range, yet this error is still being displayed, contact the SMA Service Line.

003 00 3, 300 Grid fault

The ten-minute average of the mains voltage is no longer within the permissible range. This can be caused by one of the following:

• The mains voltage at the termination point of the inverter is too high. • The grid impedance at the termination point of the inverter is too high.

The inverter disconnects to assure compliance with the power quality of the electricity grid.

• Check the mains voltage at the termination point of the inverter: If, due to local grid conditions, the mains voltage exceeds the configured threshold, ask the network operator whether the voltage can be adjusted at the feed-in point, or whether it would be acceptable to modify the threshold for power quality monitoring.

The ten-minute average of the mains voltage is no longer within the permissible range. This can be caused by one of the following:

• The mains voltage at the termination point of the inverter is too high. • The grid impedance at the termination point of the inverter is too high.

The inverter disconnects to assure compliance with the power quality of the electricity grid.

• Check the mains voltage at the termination point of the inverter: If, due to local grid conditions, the mains voltage exceeds the configured threshold, ask the network operator whether the voltage can be adjusted at the feed-in point, or whether it would be acceptable to modify the threshold for power quality monitoring.

004 00 4, 400 Grid fault The inverter is no longer in grid-parallel operation and has stopped feed-in for safety reasons. • Check the grid connection for strong, short-term frequency variations.

004 01 401 Stand-alone grid The inverter is no longer in grid-parallel operation and has stopped feed-in for safety reasons. • Check the grid connection for strong, short-term frequency variations.

008 01 801 Grid failure An electricity grid phase conductor has failed. • Check the mains voltage. • Make sure the external fuses are working properly. • Check the firmness of the AC cable connections.

009 00 9, 900 PE connection missing The PE connection is missing. Half of the mains voltage may be present on an unearthed enclosure. The inverter will not connect to the electricity grid.

• Check AC installation. • Connect earthing cable to the AC terminal.

009 01 901 PE not connected The PE connection is missing. Half of the mains voltage may be present on an unearthed enclosure. The inverter will not connect to the electricity grid.

The inverter has detected an error in the AC cabling and cannot connect to the electricity grid. The reason for this could be an incorrect country setting.

• Check AC installation. • Correct the connection. • Check that the country setting is correct:

013 03 1303 Transformer incorrectly connected

014 00 14, 1400 Grid fault

The mains voltage has left the permissible range. This disturbance can be caused by any of the following conditions:

• Electricity grid disconnected (miniature circuit-breaker, fuse) • AC cable is interrupted or • AC cable is highly resistive

The inverter disconnects from the electricity grid for safety reasons.

• Contact your installer, who will check the mains voltage and grid connection on the inverter.

• If the mains voltage is outside the permissible range due to local grid conditions, your installer should ask the network operator if the voltage can be adjusted at the feed-in point or if it would be acceptable to change the monitored operating limits.

014 01 1401 Grid voltage failure

The mains voltage has left the permissible range. This disturbance can be caused by any of the following conditions:

• Electricity grid disconnected (miniature circuit-breaker, fuse) • AC cable is interrupted or • AC cable is highly resistive

The inverter disconnects from the electricity grid for safety reasons.

• Contact your installer, who will check the mains voltage and grid connection on the inverter.

• If the mains voltage is outside the permissible range due to local grid conditions, your installer should ask the network operator if the voltage can be adjusted at the feed-in point or if it would be acceptable to change the monitored operating limits.

015 00 15, 1500 Reconnection fault grid

The measured voltage or frequency is too high or too low for connection to the electricity grid. Possibly, a changed country data set or changed parameters do not correspond to the local requirements for connecting to the electricity grid.

• Check that the country setting is correct: ‒ Via rotary switch ‒ Via communication

• Check whether the voltage and frequency of the electricity grid are within the limits of the configured country data set.

• If individual parameters within a country data set have been changed, re-select the original country data set for the installation country.

015 01 1501 Reconnection cond. grid

The measured voltage or frequency is too high or too low for connection to the electricity grid. Possibly, a changed country data set or changed parameters do not correspond to the local requirements for connecting to the electricity grid.

• Check that the country setting is correct: ‒ Via rotary switch ‒ Via communication

• Check whether the voltage and frequency of the electricity grid are within the limits of the configured country data set.

• If individual parameters within a country data set have been changed, re-select the original country data set for the installation country.

033 00 33, 3300 Unstable operation There is not enough power at the DC input of the inverter for stable operation. This may be caused by snow on the PV modules.

• Wait until irradiation is higher. • If this event recurs at medium irradiation levels, check the PV plant design

and the correct circuitry of the PV array.

033 01 3301 Gen. output too low There is not enough power at the DC input of the inverter for stable operation. This may be caused by snow on the PV modules.

• Wait until irradiation is higher. • If this event recurs at medium irradiation levels, check the PV plant design

and the correct circuitry of the PV array.

033 02 3302 Self-test aborted There is not enough power at the DC input of the inverter for stable operation. This may be caused by snow on the PV modules.

• Wait until irradiation is higher. • If this event recurs at medium irradiation levels, check the PV plant design

and the correct circuitry of the PV array.

033 03 3303 Data storage blocked There is not enough power at the DC input of the inverter for stable operation. This may be caused by snow on the PV modules.

• Wait until irradiation is higher. • If this event recurs at medium irradiation levels, check the PV plant design

and the correct circuitry of the PV array.

033 04 3304 Too little wind There is not enough power at the DC input of the inverter for stable operation. • Wait for higher and more constant wind speeds. • If the event reoccurs in the event of medium and more constant wind

speeds, check the layout of the small wind turbine system.

034 00 34, 3400 DC overvoltage The DC input voltage connected to the inverter is too high.

• Disconnect the inverter from the PV array immediately! Otherwise, the inverter could be destroyed.

• Check that the DC voltage of the strings is in compliance with the maximum input voltage of the inverter before reconnecting the inverter to the PV array.

034 01 3401 Overvolt. inp A (SW) The DC input voltage connected to the inverter is too high.

• Disconnect the inverter from the PV array immediately! Otherwise, the inverter could be destroyed.

• Check that the DC voltage of the strings is in compliance with the maximum input voltage of the inverter before reconnecting the inverter to the PV array.

034 02 3402 Overvolt. inp B (SW) The DC input voltage connected to the inverter is too high.

• Disconnect the inverter from the PV array immediately! Otherwise, the inverter could be destroyed.
