What Was Slavery?

• Slavery was when white people forced African American’s do their work for them.

Why did it Occur?

• Slavery occurred because white people didn’t want to do it themselves, so they made African Americans do it.

Where was It

• Florida, Georgia, Texas, and mostly in Mississippi.

How long did It Last?

• WE estimated thet it lasted for about 200yrs.But we aren’t for sure.

What were Runaways

• Runaways are slaves that run away from his or her owner, and they would occasionally got caught.

What is the Underground Railroad?

The underground railroad was a secret passage way that slaves used to escape from their owners. They would stay at other peoples homes. At some homes they had special stitching on quilts that would tell the runaway’s that, that house was safe.

How long did it take to make the Underground Railroad?

• WE estimated that it took 2 to 3 yrs. To produce the underground railroad.

How did slaves identify the Railroad?

Other slaves that have been to that house, may have written symbols on the fence post, that symbol that that house was safe for them to stay in. And there where songs that told them where to go.

When and How did they Travel?

• They usually traveled at night. -Way’s that they would travel: -By hey wagon -Horse -And they would walk.

What would happen if they got Caught?

• They would cut off their feet, or hurt them in some sort of way.
