Configuration required You are going to install the version 7.x of Skill FMEA Pro, please read this document.

1.1 Hardware

1.1.1 Disk space

The installation process required a 1,5 Go disk space After installation the required disk space is:

- 600 Mo (installed components) - 250 Mo for the database

1.1.2 Client

o Windows XP, VISTA, 7, 8 (32/64 bytes) o Windows Server 2003, 2005, 2008, 2012 (32/64 bytes) o For multi sites configuration :

Windows Terminal Server Citrix Metaframe

1.1.3 Configuration station

o Virtual machine accepted, o Windows XP, VISTA, 7, 8 (32/64 bytes) o Windows Server 2003, 2005, 2008, 2012 (32/64 bytes)

1.1.4 Server

o Virtual machine accepted, o Windows XP, VISTA, 7, 8 (32/64 bytes) o Windows Server 2003, 2005, 2008, 2012 (32/64 bytes) o LINUX for database server

1.2 Database

o MS SQL SERVER 2005 or higher (Express version accepted) o ORACLE 9i or higher o MS ACCESS 2000 or higher (only for simple configuration with 1 or 2 licences)

1.3 Single user or network

Single user installation

The server part is only installed




Network installation with Ms Access database

Note : It is recommended to have the configuration station and the server on the same machine

Network installation with ORACLE or SQL server database

Note : It is recommended to have the configuration station and the server on the same machine




1.4 Backup

The location of the data to backup depends of the architecture

MS ACCESS On the shared directory \Skill Designor Pro\Datas\Skill Designor Pro.mdb

MS SQL SERVER Database defined during the configuration

ORACLE Database defined during the configuration

Note : To locate the directory of the database, click on the « About », and click on the database button.

The database volume is approx. 100 Mo, with 200 FMEA folders.




2 Single user installation You must log with a Windows Administrator on the PC, and may restart the machine after the

installation. Insert the CD, the installation starts automatically

Click on the Next button

You can change the path by

clicking on the change button

. Click on the Next button

The installation is in progress

Click on the Finish button. The installation is completed

Restart the machine if required. When you first run the Skill FMEA Pro, the license key is required. See Chapter 5




3 Network installation

3.1 Server part

You must log with a Windows Administrator on the PC, and may restart the machine after the

installation. Insert the installation CD into the configuration station The installation starts automatically

Click on the Next button

To chose the directory of the

shared file click on the Change button.

Then click on the Next button

The installation is in progress




Click on the Finish button. The installation is completed


3.2 Client part


installation Each PC connected to the server has to be installed. On the server directory

\Skill Designor

Pro\Workstation\ Double click on the

setup.exe

Click on the next button.




Select the directory to install. The default is « C:\Program Files\ ».

Click on the next button.

All files are installed.

Click on the Finish button.

The installation is completed





4 Network upgrade During the upgrade of a version, the license key remains unchanged. Make a backup of your database before upgrading (see chapter 1.4)

4.1 Server part upgrade


installation Insert the CD into the configuration station.

The installation runs automatically, or execute the

setup.exe. If that windows does not appear, it means that your are not on the configuration station.

Click on the next button



Restart the machine if required.




Execute on the serveur the

« Skill Designor Pro

Serveur.exe » to perform the

upgrade of the database.

On the 5.1x version, you can optimize the set of colors if you run on Citrix or Terminal Server.

Then the program runs automatically.

4.2 Client part upgrade


installation Each PC connected to the server has to be installed.

In the server directory « \Skill Designor

Pro\Workstation », execute the

setup.exe.




This message is displayed

Click on Yes to upgrade.

Click on the next button






5 Registration and license key When you first start Skill FMEA Pro, the registration is prompted. During the upgrade of a version, the license key remains the same..

Start the Skill FMEA Pro program, and connection in your Administrator profile.

Select the menu Parameters, and

the Registration option.

Contact Skill Software to get your registration key, based on your program key. . +33 (0)472.48.24.80 www.skillsoftware.com

Enter your registration key in the

cells, and click the Ok button.

Without the registration key, the program runs in a demo mode limited to, 25 functions, 25 components and 25 operations.





6 SQL SERVER configuration The standard server part has to be installed before the configuration of the SQL server configuration. Create a database into SQL Server. Create a schema with users right.

Start the program from the server The message is displayed, click on

the Yes button

To connect the SQL server database click on the button

Select your database Select the SQL server authentication.




The access configuration to SQL server is completed.

Click on the Ok button

7 ORACLE configuration The standard server part has to be installed before the configuration of the ORACLE configuration. All PC and the configuration station must have :

- An ORACLE client >= version 9i (32 bytes mandatory) - The same TNS name - The « Oracle provider for OLE DB » version 8.1.7.0.0 or higher

Run the application from the configuration station.

Click on the Yes button

To connect to the ORACLE database click on the button.

Type your TNS name Type your login and password




The connection to the ORACLE database is completed.

Click on the Ok button.

8 Mail server connection. Some functionalities of Skill FMEA Pro use the mail feature. So the mail server has to be connected. Start the program and connection in the Administrator profile.

Select the menu Parameter, and the

SMTP server option.

This windows is displayed to Add,

Modify, or Delete a server




To Add a server, provide the address, the port number and a facultative additional description.

Click on the Ok button.

To connect the site and the SMTP

server, select the Parameters menu

and the Site option..

For each site, you can select the SMTP server previously created. All sites may have the same SMTP server.

At the start up, the program has not been decoded. Run the application server program.

At the start up, the configuration file has not yet been generated. Run the application server program..

SDP_ERROR STIC

The data base test connections are not correct. The database is not accessible The connection link is not correct

WDCF_ERROR 0xFFFF0001

You cannot right into the register. Connect yourself as a Windows Administrator. .

10 FAQ Some useful command line…

o Command : RefreshClient.exe/ TESTODBC. To test the connection with the data base

o Commande : Skill Designor Pro /TRACESDP To create a log file (SDP.LOG) located in the same directory as the exe program.

o Commande : Skill Designor Pro /VIAODBC To configure the database access by using the ODBC windows instead of the Skill FMEA Pro

screen. o Commande : Skill Designor Pro / LANG=X

To select automatically the langage at the start up.

Replace X by:

CS=>Czech

EN=>English

FR=>French

DE=>German

IT=>Italian

ES=>Spanish

o Commande : Skill Designor Pro / UID=X To select automatically the user Replace X by the login

o Commande : Skill Designor Pro /PWD=X

To select automatically the password

Replace X by the password o Commande : Skill Designor Pro /D

To start automatically in the design FMEA module o Commande : Skill Designor Pro /P
