Institutional and Capacity Building in the Environmental Sector



Overall objective:

Strengthening the administrative, monitoring and enforcement capacity in the environmental sector, notably as regards the implementation of the acquis in the field of air, water, waste, nature protection, standardisation and reporting.



Symbology:

• the 1st project as combination of proposals and needs of institutions

• the 1st which covers wide area (not only 1 sector)

• covenant approved in Brussels on the 1 June 2004 as the 1st covenant approved without conditions

• started on the 1 July 2004

• in the 11th year of SEA existence

• with UBA as tw partner - No.1 in EEA PDF ranking

Support (technical) to expand SK NRC network

(NRC=National Reference Centres) Improvement of capacity of the national server and technical

support for connection of the NRCs in both traditional and new institutions to WANs: ZPNET, EIONET, INTERNET.

Activity 4. AIR POLLUTION

Support to the existing network of monitoring stations and support for new reporting obligation

Improvement and upgrade of existing sampling and analytical equipment

Improvement of laboratory capacities and analytical quality for air samples analysis



Activities 1 - 4 are parts of Mosaic of MDIAR chain (Monitoring-Data-Information-Assessment-Reporting) in Slovakia

Conclusion:

successful – not only from the content point of view, achievement of defined targets, supplied techniques and solutions within 28 mil.Sk, but also by improvement of partnership between institutions of MoE sector:

SEA-SHMI-SEI-SNC of SR and partnership with UBA project was not only about the work, but also about

relations and friendship
