Discovery Work Experience Programme

The KPMG Discovery Programme gives Year 12 students the chance to gain invaluable work experience in the professional services industry. Running in summer 2018 at a number of KPMG offices around the UK, the programme is designed for students in Year 12 who are interested in a career in business at a firm such as KPMG. During the programme students will undertake a series of interactive business challenges, skills workshops and research tasks designed to develop some of the key skills needed to thrive at KPMG. You will also have the opportunity to meet and hear presentations from KPMG employees across the business and, on their 5-day and 3-day programmes, work shadow to see the type of work our employees undertake on a day-to-day basis. www.kpmgcareers.co.uk/apprenticeships/apprenticeship-programmes/kpmg-discovery

Cambridge University Subject Masterclasses—bookings open The University is running a large set of Subject Masterclasses this October and November for academically able Year 12 students. Masterclasses are a great opportunity for students to undertake super-curricular activities and explore subjects beyond the school curriculum. Students are able to attend multiple masterclasses throughout the year, so they can also be a useful tool for students still deciding which subject they wish to study at university. This autumn there are Masterclasses for the following subjects: English, Asian and Middle Eastern Studies, History of Art, Politics and International Relations, Genetics and Biochemistry, History, Archaeology, Music, Physics, Evolutionary Biology, Modern and Medieval Languages, Law, Chemistry, Sociology, Linguistics and Land Economy. Each Masterclass includes: two taster lectures delivered by leading academic staff from the University, the opportunity to discuss and ask questions, an introduction to the Cambridge admissions process, the opportunity to hear about life as a Cambridge student from current undergraduates. www.undergraduate.study.cam.ac.uk/events/masterclasses
