Introduction

• Background and Challenges– Battery lifetime is strongly affected by operating ambient temperature

with cycles Rule of thumb is that every 10C increase on operating temperature will halve

battery lifetime

– Standard power system cooling solutions are always not the most optimal in cost and energy efficiency Cost optimization and energy efficiency benefits lost due to heat load inside

the cabinets

– Traditional cabinet structure not the most optimal in thermal conductivity Single wall, single wall w/ thermal insulation, double wall w/ air gap Sun load impact noticeable at high operational temperatures

Cabinet Climate Management

• SiteStar cabinet climate units are placed in the cabinet door

• Internal and external airflows mechanically separated

• Cabinet interior fully closed looped

• The cooling air generated is distributed by means of fan

• The high performance climate system combined with the high performance cabinet structure will enable to keep a +15…+25C internal temperature even up to +50C ambient

Climate Control Unit

• Climate control unit locates at bottom on a cabinet door

• Unit have four LED’s for information – ‘Eco’ to indicate ECO mode status; enabled (GREEN) / disabled (LED OFF)

– ‘Operational’ to indicate cooling system is running (GREEN)

– ‘Test’ to indicate self-test ongoing (YELLOW) and self-test completed (LED OFF)

– ‘Fault’ to indicate any fault or alarm on climate control unit (RED)

• CCU alarms are combined into a one common alarm output send via the D9 Ext alarm connector – External alarm is triggered by compressor/heater/fan/controller fail, high/low internal

temperature, high external temperature, door open and mains failure

– Alarm cable one end is unterminated allowing either NC or NO connection inside FPRA Pin1 – NO, Pin2 – NC, Pin3 – Common

Cable Entry

• Cabinet cable entry space locates at bottom on side wall– Cable entry plate assembly delivered separately inside the cabinet

• Cable entry can be installed either left or right sides

• Multigate is metal reinforced plate made from various types of polymers– Ingress protection IP55

– Flame resistance UL94; V-0

• Cable diameters supported– 8 x 10-30mm

– 2 x 7-12mm

SiteStar – Electrical Specification

• SiteStar cabinet have a different version for nominal voltages of 230VAC and 115VAC

• Mains AC connection support different connection options– Single phase

– Three phase

– Between the phases

Optional HW Installation Kits

• There are two different optional HW installation kits provided– Roof rail kit (2 rails on top and one side wall rail)

Allowing FPRA Flexi Power Rectifier installation on top of the cabinet• FMFA Flexi plinth is needed as an installation base

Includes a lone ong side wall rail for cable support

– Side wall rail kit (4 rails, 2 rails for both sides) Allowing Flexi BTS module installation to cabinet

side walls• Max up to 6 modules / side

• FMFA Flexi plinth is needed as an installation base

SiteStar & FPRA Flexi Power Rectifier

• FPRA Flexi Power Rectifier is a primary power system to be used with SiteStar

• FPRA can be installed on top of the cabinet or together with Flexi BTS modules into a separate stack/cabinet etc outside the SiteStar cabinet

• FPRA distance to SiteStar is limited by temperature sensor length of 3m to have battery thermal control in place

• Battery cables will be fed directly from FPRA into the individual battery strings inside SideStar– Cables must be provided locally due to multiple mounting

locations of FPRA

• SiteStar alarms are connected and forwarded via FPRA

• SiteStar mains connection point at cabinet bottom can be used to share mains feed to FPRA if both not fed separately from site main distribution board

Page 16: SiteStar Technical Slides

Soc Classification level Marko P. Komulainen / Draft16 © Nokia Siemens Networks

Battery Cabling Principle

• Up to 3 battery strings can be fed directly from FPRA to the individual strings

• In case of 4th battery string is required an additional DCCU plate is needed– DCCU plate will provide bigger fuses

allowing chaining of 3rd and 4th strings

• DCCU plate will be installed at cabinet bottom next to mains AC terminals– DCCU plate comes with 3 x 100A fuses

• Battery outputs from FPRA will be connected to DCCU fuses and Common and further to battery strings

FPRA Flexi Power Rectifier – Overview

• FPRA has the same conceptual approach like any Flexi BTS platform products– 3U high chassis build up from IP54 building blocks (rectifier and controller)

– Final IP55 protection achieved with front and rear covers (same covers as used with FlexiBTS)

– Same FPRA unit used both indoor and outdoor environments Indoor and any outdoor cabinet installations without front/rear covers Outdoor stand alone installations (wall/pole/stack) with front/rear covers mounted

– Back to Front airflow like on FlexiBTS modules

• No air filters => reduced maintenance needs => lower OPEX

• No special system specific SW needed– Only web browser needed for local connection to make the commissioning

• Output power scaleable from 2kW to 6kW (3 x 2kW)

• No space for batteries inside like on FPMA
