Editor Standard: ' Iii your last Issue appeared an i-iS article which, in the estimation of --f< many readers, should interest every t loyal citizen aud nature-lover in our city. I refer to the article suggest- ,' 3 ing the desirability of a public park . for Sisseton. ' No cit i/.en who has been a resident , of the cit.v during the past two or / / three years, can fail lo admit that' * rapid strides have been made in thfc ' J development md improvement of our city as a place of residence. The \ bet ierineiit ol our streets, our ex- cellent electric light system and > other improvements of recent date speak tor themselves of the progres- sive spirit of oui citizens. Perhaps;.'' no advance step to be taKen uowl" would produce more generally satis—' - factory results ihau the institution^ of a public park. As has been sug- gested, the vicinity of the spriug from whence our water supply Is taken would afford a very suitable locatiou and prove an ideal spot for such a park, obtainable at a mini- mum cost. A little wise expenditure now would afford most happy and lasting results in a few years. - Our citizens are progressive and puolic-spirited and we believe that ' when this matter has been brought to their earnest consideration, steps will be taken to redeem a small portion of our tree.less surroundings for a purpose that will prove a boon to the entire population for genera- tions to come. A Communication. Editor Standard: '

Iii your last Issue appeared an i-iS article which, in the estimation of --f< many readers, should interest every t

loyal citizen aud nature-lover in our city. I refer to the article suggest- ,'3

ing the desirability of a public park . for Sisseton. '

No cit i/.en who has been a resident , of the cit.v during the past two or / / three years, can fail lo admit that' * rapid strides have been made in thfc ' J development md improvement of our city as a place of residence. The \ bet ierineiit ol our streets, our excellent electric light system and > other improvements of recent date speak tor themselves of the progressive spirit of oui citizens. Perhaps;.'' no advance step to be taKen uowl" would produce more generally satis—' -factory results ihau the institution^ of a public park. As has been suggested, the vicinity of the spriug from whence our water supply Is taken would afford a very suitable locatiou and prove an ideal spot for such a park, obtainable at a minimum cost. A little wise expenditure now would afford most happy and lasting results in a few years. -

Our citizens are progressive and puolic-spirited and we believe that ' when this matter has been brought to their earnest consideration, steps will be taken to redeem a small portion of our tree.less surroundings for a purpose that will prove a boon to the entire population for generations to come. By all means let u* have a paik. > .
