ABOUT OURSELVES

Haryana has a prominent place in the Animal Husbandry & Dairying map of the country

with per capita milk availability approaching 900 gm. The state is the home tract of world famous

"Murrah" buffaloes popularly called the "Black Gold" of India. Murrah is recognized as the best

breed of buffaloes in the world. Being the home-tract, Haryana has since long been the prime

source of Murrah germ plasm for other agencies and organiza�ons engaged in gene�c

improvement of buffaloes. Since the establishment of the Haryana Livestock Development Board

with a mandate to provide quality A.I. services, the breeding ac�vi�es in the state have got a big

boost. The sperm sta�ons have been extensively renovated modified and up-scaled to provide the

state-of-the-art equipment & facili�es for produc�on of quality frozen semen of high gene�c

merit. The sperm sta�ons are being manned by a team of highly qualified, trained & experienced

professionals.

It gives a great pleasure to record Sperm Sta�ons are ISO 9001:2008 cer�fied & awarded

“A” grade in the latest evalua�on by Central Monitoring Unit (CMU), Govt. of India. The Sperm

Sta�on Hisar has been further strengthened under Na�onal Dairy Plan Phase-I in the recent years.

The sta�on has now a capacity to accommodate more than three hundred bulls in individual pens

having loafing area, 24x7 water availability & floor feeding in addi�on to being environment-

friendly. Top of the range equipments have been provide under NDP-I including the Semen Sta�on

Management System (SSMS) for efficient management & monitoring of all steps/stages of semen

produc�on and its inventory. Hisar sperm Sta�on has been short-listed for introduc�on of the

“dream cum true” technology for produc�on of sex-sorted semen. The ma�er is under ac�ve

considera�on of the state Government as well as Govt. of India. This novel technology is likely to

revolu�onize the dairy farming in the en�re region.

There is an independent quality control sec�on headed by a dedicated & experienced

professional not associated with produc�on and processing of frozen semen. Each batch of frozen

semen is subjected to rigorous quality assessment prior to, during and a�er freezing. Including

evalua�on using the Computer Assisted Sperms Analyzer (CASA). Before releasing any batch of

semen for field use, it undergoes the mandatory quaran�ne storage and stringent quality

evalua�on through a ba�ery of tests including Progressive Mo�lity, Morphological Abnormali�es,

Live/Dead Count, Osmo�c (HOST) & Thermal Tolerance, Membrane Integrity, Microbial Load and

Metabolic Tests etc. The quality of semen remains the top priority and is never compromised at

any stage. Each bull is being evaluated in terms of concep�on & fer�lity rate under field condi�ons

based on atleast 500 insemina�ons per bull.

Highly meritorious bulls are ini�ally selected at a young age through a well-established

selec�on procedure involving the en�re breeding popula�on of the state and the bulls so selected

represent the top most 0.1% of the stock. The selected bull calves are reared scien�fically at Young

Bulls Rearing Centers under the care of specialists. They are subjected to regular health checks,

anthological evalua�on and cytogene�c screening prior to induc�ng them into semen produc�on.

Bulls are regularly screened against Turberculosis, Johne's Disease, Brucellosis, IBR,

Trichomoniasis, Campylobacteriosis, BVD and other disease likely to be transmi�ed through

ar�ficial insemina�on. In addi�on, High Gene�c Merit bulls of different breeds produced under

different Progeny Tes�ng & Progeny Selec�on Programme across the country are being procured

a�er allotment by the Bull Distribu�on Commi�ee (BDC) under NDP-I.

It gives a great pleasure to bring out this new edi�on of the Sire Directory. A reasonable

stock of frozen semen of all the bulls included in this directory is always available at our Semen

Banks for immediate supply. The Haryana Livestock Development Board reserves the right to make

modifica�ons, amendments in this Sire Directory without prior no�ce.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR SUPPLY OF FROZEN SEMEN

In addi�on to the ready availability of semen of Murrah Bulls of excep�onal gene�c merit, the

Haryana Livestock Development Board is also in a posi�on to supply frozen semen of Hariana,

Sahiwal, Friesian, Imported HF and Friesian Cross Bulls.

1. Price

a) The price of frozen semen will be quoted on request. It will depend upon gene�c

merit of the bull as well as on the number of doses required.

b) The rates quoted would, generally, be Ex-Frozen Semen Bank, Hisar, Gurgaon &

Jagadhari.

c) In case any taxes are applicable, the same will be charged from the buyer at the �me

of delivery.

2. Payment terms

The payment will be accepted through NEFT/RTGS only and in advance prior to delivery of

semen doses.

3. Mode of Dispatch

a) The frozen semen will be supplied in French Mini Straws in the buyer's cryogenic

containers.

b) The customer is requested to inform bull wise/breed wise requirement of semen, in

advance, prior to visi�ng the sperm sta�on for taking delivery.

c) In case, semen of a par�cular bull is not available at the �me of supply, the semen of

other bulls of equivalent gene�c merit would be made available.

d) The buyer is requested to depute his representa�ve along with requisite number of

Liquid Nitrogen Containers, Canisters, Li�s and Goblets. The representa�ves are

advised to get fully sa�sfied with the quality of semen prior to accep�ng the

delivery. However, once the Frozen Semen Doses have been delivered, the

responsibility of Haryana Livestock Development Board / Sperm Sta�on ceases.
