There are signifi cant diff erences in applicati ons for PCD vs. CBN. While PCD is engineered for use on nonferrous material, CBN is designed for machining high temperature alloys and hardened ferrous materials. Failure to have the correct tool for the applicati on will result in tool failure. Choosing the PCD grade is straight forward in soft /abrasive applicati ons however, hard turning requires multi ple applicati on specifi c grades of CBN. CBN works best with a specifi cally designed tool for your applicati on. The opti mally designed CBN tool for each material will allow for longer tool life and quality of fi nish. Whether choosing a PCD or CBN insert, let the experts at ACT design the perfect tool for your applicati on.
