1. A SMP meeting was held on 12 July 2018 at Del Mar Marina. HM1 Loaiza called the meeting to order at
1332. List of those in attendance is provided on the sign in sheet (attachment 1).
2. Ms. Danielle West - SMP Coordinator – Last month’s minutes can be found at www.mccscp.com under the
recreation / SMP tab.

4. Mr. Jaenichen - Bachelor Housing –
On base we currently have Devil pups, ROTC, Reservist in 22 Area and 14 Area,
There is no A/C in the barracks, these are not allowed as the barracks can’t handle that much
electricity. Please do not try to sneak A/C units.
Remember to turn off ALL electronics when leaving barracks rooms
14 Area has had broken locks for 9 months. Jay Jaenichen is being contacted on this matter.

Sailboat rentals, power boat rentals, kayak & paddleboard rentals, etc
Youth and Adult Sailing classes. Basic Sailing Class Dates: Jul 07-08 & 15, Jul 28-29 & Aug 05, and
Sep 01- 03. Intermediate sailing: Aug 04-05 & 11-12. Youth Basic Summer classes: Jul 10-13, Jul 17-
20, and Jul 24-27. Youth Advanced class: Aug 07-10.
Slips for privately owned boats: The Marina has 47 rental slips from 26′ – 45′ with two end ties 65′-70′
also two moorings 32′ max. Slip Rental fee $10.25/per ft.
7. Mr. Chip Dykes, Pacific Marine Credit Union–
Pacific Marine Credit Union provides financial education seminars to its military members. These
seminars will foster effective financial management skills and enhance quality of life. PMCU also is a
financial sponsor of Single Marine Program.

07/27 * 08/17 – Snorkeling in La Jolla – Explore the ocean by snorkeling in La Jolla! A mere $5.00 gets you a day

July 24 - Operation Rapid Hire 3.0 – Veteran recruitment hiring event @ Pacific Views Event
Center. 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm. This event will provide managers and separating eligible Veterans with
an expedited hiring solution to fill MCIWEST-CAMPEN and regional vacancies. For Veteran
Recruitment Authority (VRA) eligible candidates and all applicants with non-competitive eligibility
(current federal employees, reinstatements, etc.). Interviews will be conducted on the day of event
until 7pm.

July 16 – 20, July 23 - 27 & July 30 – Aug 3 - Stables Summer Camp at Stepp Stables - Stables
Camp is designed to teach children how care for, feed, groom and ride a horse. Camp includes: Camp
t-shirt and craft, group instruction, helmets ASTM/SEI or bring your own, and lunch provided. For
ages 7 & older. Cost: $300. Attire: Closed toe shoes (jeans and boot preferred). Limited to 10 kids per

July 17 – 18 - King’s Basketball Mini Camp at 52 Area Gym (SOI). This is an opportunity for the
kids to gain new basketball and leadership skills while having lots of fun! Skill training for ball-
handling, passing, shooting, as well as offensive and defensive skills during 5 on 5 games.
July 17 & 19 - Summer Movie Day Specials - The Lego Movie at Leatherneck Lanes Bowling
Center. Free event.
July 17 – 20 - Youth Summer Classes Basic Sailing and Kayaking at Del Mar Marina. This class
covers all the basic fundamentals of sailing; safety on water, knots, boat parts, rules of road, steering,
sail trim, rigging and lots more. You will be sailing the first day of class. Learn Kayaking to include
basic strokes and the safety of using kayaks. (Sit on top kayaks) All Boats, Kayaks and Equipment

Advanced registration is required for all SMP trips, events & volunteer opportunities. Program events are open only to single Marine and Sailors stationed on Camp Pendleton. Participants who volunteer must register in advance with SMP HQ in order to receive a letter of appreciation. Volunteers must provide their own transportation except for PE fitness Challenge. A signed command permission slip is required for all SMP activities. All activities depart from Semper Fit Headquarters Bldg. 1253. Unless otherwise stated and require that participants utilize the provided transportation.

SSMP Volunteer Opportunities
Retirement Home Visits Have dinner with the residents. Charlies are the requested uniform for these events. Max of 6-10 volunteers needed for each opportunity. Each event begins at 1600. 07/10 - Rancho Vista Retirement Home 07/11 - Pacific Place Retirement Home 07/25 - Fairwinds Retirement Home 07/11 & 07/25 - 1000 Base Stables Volunteer Day Camp Pendleton Stables, Bldg. 1516. Participants will help clean & groom horses, clean stalls, & help with general maintenance at the stables. Uniform of the day is civilian attire. Closed toed shoes are required. A maximum of 10 participants are needed for this opportunity. Participants must sign up prior to the event. Bring water! 07/26 – 0800 CDC Olympics Volunteers will host a two-hour fitness challenge at an on-base child development center. All volunteers must meet at Semper Fit Headquarters Bldg. 1253 at 0800. Please eat breakfast before you arrive. Dress attire is the Marine Corps Running Suit with green PT shorts and plain skivvy shirt underneath. Lunch will be provided. 20 volunteers needed.
