  • The Future of Norwalk Schools Progress is being made in Norwalk. The adoption of the Common Core State Standards will enhance instruction and provide a more competitive platform for achievement. NEF will continue to raise funds to suppor t the implementation of the Common Core State Standards and assure that teachers are prepared to bring this approach to their students.

What Can Norwalk do to Transform Education?A successful school district depends on all of us.

High-performing public schools are essential for our children to flourish. Preparing them for college and career is our number one priority. It is critical for their future and for the future of Norwalk. NEF believes that systemic, sustainable change can best be achieved when the entire community - businesses, parents, educators, support organizations, and local policy makers - work together in partnership with the school system.

What is the Norwalk Education Foundation? Norwalk Education Foundation creates opportunities for educational innovation and excellence by:

    • Piloting innovative educational programs in the schools• Supporting teacher quality• Engaging the community about education

    • Creating business partnerships to support education

Background The Norwalk Education Foundation (NEF) has been providing funding for educational initiatives for 15 years. Star ted by a group of parents who wanted to bring in corporate dollars to help the schools, NEF was formed as a 501(c)3 charity so donations could be tax exempt.

Over the years, NEF has transformed into a foundation whose focus is on educational excellence, teacher quality and suppor ting educational initiatives to improve achievement for all students.

Our work also includes collaborations with community par tnerships. These groups bring together representatives from local nonprofits whose mission is to effect purposeful change for Norwalk children.
