Medium Term Project Planning
Academic Year: 2016/17 Year group: 2 Term: Autumn 2016
Essential Question:
If the fire happened now, would London still have been destroyed?
REAL Project Outcome:
Mini project - Children to participate in bread making and tasting event.
Main project - Children will learn about the Great Fire of London and will
produce an animation on fire safety.

Project Launch:
Children enter the classroom to discover they have been invited to watch
a ‘new’ infomercial all about fire safety. Children to evaluate infomercial
with view to producing a better one.
Immersion:
Corridor will include red carpet, Simonside walk of fame, Golden Oscars on
walls, hanging cameras and film reels, Simonside hills in style of Hollywood
hills. In class there will be a role play bakery, River Thames, silhouette of
London landscape and a Samuel Pepys diary writing area.
