13 Greater Kashmir SRINAGAR | July 23, 2014, Wednesday 13 days on Protesting youth spend nights in Pratap Park MUDASIR YAQOOB Srinagar, July 22: Resenting against state government’s fail- ure to clear their file in Cabinet to approve Rahbar-e-Janglat scheme, around two hundred unemployed youth are spending nights in Pratap Park here as protest. They held protest demonstra- tions, were detained and lathi charged on numerous occasions at Press Enclave here prior to July 10, when they assembled under the banner of All Jammu and Kash- mir Unemployed Forestry Gradu- ates and DDR Association and are observing silent protest against government. They are demanding final call in the Rehbar-e-Janglat project in which forestry graduate students were to be absorbed on the pattern of Rehbar-e-Taleem and Rehbar-e- Zirat failing which they will head to New Delhi to meet central government and hold protest at Jantar Mantar. Most of the protestors are highly qualified having Ph. D, M. Sc degrees. Bilal Ahmad, a protestor said some of their colleagues have fallen unconscious and have been hospitalized. “It is shame- ful for authorities that they have failed to pay attention to our demands,” he added. He said that they are observ- ing Sehri and Iftaar in the park while the entire day they raise the banners and placards demanding justice. Naveen Singh, another pro- testor said the number of Forest graduates is less than 400. “Hun- dreds of posts are vacant in the concerned department. We fail to understand why government is delaying the process to approve the Rehbar-e-Janglat scheme in the cabinet,” he questioned. Protestors said that they had made number of attempts to call on Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to apprise him about their griev- ance and demand. “However, every time we were not allowed to meet him,” he added. They said that their file has been cleared by Law, Finance and General Departments, adding, “Since from last five years the file (agenda) was never taken up in the cabinet for its approval or disapproval.” Sikh body concerned over Gaza killings Int’l community’s silence criminal: Raina Srinagar, July 22: Express- ing concern over the bomb- ing of civilians in Gaza strip by Israeli forces, All Parties Sikh Coordination Commit- tee (APSCC) has asked the world community to step in and stop further killing of innocents in the area. In a statement, APSCC Chairman Jagmohan Singh Raina said that peace should be restored in the area at the earliest. “It is the respon- sibility of United Nations peace keeping force and non-aligned countries to strive for peace in Gaza,” said Raina. The APSCC Chairman said Parliament should con- demn the Israeli aggression tooth and nail so that some diplomatic pressure is build upon the Israeli government. “Pressure from different quarters would force Israel to stop bombing in the civil- ian areas. People of Kashmir are very much concerned as children and women are also being killed in the war like situation,” Raina said. “When world commu- nity has preferred to keep silence over the situation in Gaza, Kashmiris have stood up against the aggression. The cruel silence of Saudi Arabia and international Islamic organizations is hurting badly,” said APSCC chairman. Raina asked the people of Kashmir to remain vigilant and not allow any anti social elements to take refuge in the garb of agita- tion which costs in the loss of young lives. Establish paediatric hospitals in north, south Kashmir: DAK GK NEWS NETWORK Srinagar July 22: Stating that government’s plan to construct another paedi- atric hospital in Srinagar makes no sense, Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) today said it is the lack of tertiary care paediatric facilities in peripheries that leads to fatalities of infants. In a statement, DAK presi- dent Dr Nisar ul Hassan said government should establish tertiary care paediatric hos- pitals in North and South Kashmir to save precious human lives and lessen the burden on GB Pant hospital, the only tertiary care paediat- ric centre in Kashmir. “Most of the babies, referred from peripheral hospitals to GB Pant are criti- cally sick and it is the timely intervention that can save these fragile infants. The fatalities of critically sick neonates are compounded by lack of Mobile Critical Care Ambulances,” he added. “Government is spending public money lavishly on luxuries of its functionaries which is outrageous as it is at the cost of human lives,” Dr Nisar said. The poor health care in valley is the outcome of wrong practices by govern- ment of which infants are victims, he further said. Students seek CM’s intervention Srinagar, July 22: A group of 6th semester polytech- nic students on Tuesday appealed Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to pass directions to the Technical Board to conduct re-exam- ination of their ‘Industrial Management’ paper. They said that they couldn’t appear in the exam- ination on July 15 due to pro- tests at Sangrama, Sopore. “We also approached Sec- retary Technical Board to conduct re-examination of the paper but he pleaded his helplessness,” they said, adding, “We have pinned all hopes now on Chief Minis- ter’s office.” They also sought inter- vention of Technical Educa- tion Minister and Secretary Technical Education and Youth Services, Khurshid Ahmad Shah in the matter. “Most of the babies, referred from peripheral hospitals to GB Pant are criti-cally sick and it is the timely intervention that can save these fragile infants. The fatalities of critically sick neonates are compounded by lack of Mobile Critical Care Ambulances,” he added.

“Government is spending public money lavishly on luxuries of its functionaries which is outrageous as it is at the cost of human lives,” Dr Nisar said.

The poor health care in valley is the outcome of wrong practices by govern-ment of which infants are victims, he further said.

Students seek CM’s interventionSrinagar, July 22: A group of 6th semester polytech-nic students on Tuesday appealed Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to pass directions to the Technical Board to conduct re-exam-ination of their ‘Industrial Management’ paper.

They said that they couldn’t appear in the exam-ination on July 15 due to pro-tests at Sangrama, Sopore. “We also approached Sec-retary Technical Board to conduct re-examination of the paper but he pleaded his helplessness,” they said, adding, “We have pinned all hopes now on Chief Minis-ter’s office.”

They also sought inter-vention of Technical Educa-tion Minister and Secretary Technical Education and Youth Services, Khurshid Ahmad Shah in the matter.
