Ultimate E or Signature Series: High Performance and Pr

Beyond Energy EfficientLincoln Ultimate E®‚ and Signature Series™ motorsprovide both premium energy efficiency and out-standing performance. They comply with or exceedthe energy efficiency requirements of the UnitedStates and Canada for general-purpose motors whiledelivering new levels of starting torque, overloadcapability, application versatility, and reliability.

More Starting TorqueUltimate E and Signature Series motors provideexcellent starting torque. In fact, most models havea starting torque rating which is normally associatedwith specialty designs such as NEMA Design C! Fordependable "get-up and go" capability with off-the-shelf availability, get a Lincoln Ultimate E orSignature Series motor.

More Overload CapacityWith an industry-leading service factor on mostmodels*, Ultimate E and Signature Series motorsprovide peace of mind in uncertain situations.Whatever comes their way, these motors deliver theoverload assurance to let you rest easy.

More Operating VoltagesUltimate E and Signature Series motors are name-plated for a variety of operating voltages that canreduce your inventory requirements.

• all 230/460 Volt, 60 Hz models are nameplatedfor 208 Volt, 60 Hz operation*.

• most 230/460 and 460 Volt, 60 Hz motors arenameplated for 50 Hz operation* on 380 and/or415 Volts.

Vary the Speed, Reap the BenefitsEveryone knows the potential benefits of usinginverter or variable-speed drives. For that reason, most Ultimate E and Signature Series motors(230/460 and 460 Volt, 60 Hz ) are Inverter-Rated* for use with any brand drive and at any carrier frequency. And to make matters as simple and inexpensive as possible, filters and power conditioning devices are not required.

Precedent-Setting Warranty ProtectionExpect ultimate reliability from your LincolnUltimate E or Signature Series motor. For over 15 years, Lincoln has backed its motors with a precedent-setting five-year warranty (on sine-wavepower. See LC100 catalog for warranty informationon inverter-power). No other motor manufacturerhas expressed as much confidence in the design, manufacturing quality or performance of its motors.Warranty claims are handled on the spot throughour wide network of conveniently located Lincolnauthorized warranty shops.

Ventilation Systems That Get Rid Of Heat FastHeat kills motors. A cool-running motor lasts longer because its insulation system lasts longer. In fact, every 10°C drop in operatingtemperature doubles the expected life of the insulation. Toremove heat fast, Lincoln utilizes extruded aluminum frames inTEFC sizes 182T-286T and stagger-stacked laminations in TEFCsizes 324T-449T and in ODP, 284T-449T.

Aluminum is a great heat sink. In fact, it pulls heat awayfrom motor windings four times faster than cast iron orsteel. The extrusion process enhances aluminum’s heatconducting properties by allowing the frame sections tohave thinner fins placed closer together. The result is morefins and greater surface area for maximum cooling.

Five YearWarranty

Innovative Engineering and MTake These Motors Beyond

Unique Stagger-Stacked Laminations Increase CoolingSuccessive layers of square laminations are shifted orindexed during stator manufacture. In steel TEFC motors, ambient air is blown at high velocity through a channelformed by the motor’s innovative double shell configura-tion. The lamination stack protrudes into the channel. InODP motors, ambient air is drawn into the motor at both

ends, is circulated over andaround the entire laminationstack and is exhausted outthrough the sides. Both enclosures demonstrate a very effective heat transfer system due to direct contactbetween the heat source and the cooling medium.

An Insulation System Second to None! All insulating materials used in the manufacture of Lincolnmotors have a thermal rating of Class F, H or higher.

Lincoln employs quality varnishes to further enhance theinsulation system and maximize electrical life.

We Haven’t Forgotten the Importanceof the Bearing SystemA bearing’s life is shortened by friction and

heat. Dust, dirt or other contaminantsdamage ball and race surfaces. If a

bearing fails, good chance the motorfails, too. Lincoln uses:• double-shielded deep-groove

ball bearings• moisture-resistant

polyurea lubricant • slingers on all drive shafts

and on the fan end of TEFC motors(competitors use them only on their

severe duty motors)

Lincoln Steel Frame Motors: They Don’tCome Any More Durable Than ThisFirst, a little metallurgy: the yield strengthof steel is higher than the ultimate strengthof cast iron. This makes steel muchstronger and 250% more rigid than castiron. Cast iron is perceived as a ruggedmotor frame material because of its bulkiness, when in reality its relativelyfragile nature requires 2-1/2 times as muchmetal to approach the performance ofsteel. And when it comes to impact loads, steel provides much greater resistance to cracking.

A Steel Frame with Foot Flatness to Rival the Best Cast Iron FramesLincoln’s quality manufacturing techniquesproduce steel frame motors that meet thedemanding IEEE 841 specification for footflatness (to 0.005"). All of our steel motorsfrom 284T and up meet this spec, whichwas written for top-of-the-line cast ironframe motors.

The Best Way to Describe Lincoln’sAluminum Frame Motors: ToughWe use an extruded aluminum alloy forour frames- not cast aluminum. The extru-sion process provides dense sections freefrom slag inclusions, porosity and otherdefects which reduce the physical perform-ance of cast aluminum frames. In addition, extruded aluminum when compared tocast iron or cast aluminum has a greaterresistance to cracking under impact loads.Extruded aluminum cooling fins will bendwhen struck; cast iron fins tend to break.Plus, the natural corrosion resistance ofextruded aluminum is far superior to castaluminum at slowing degradation from chemical attack.

Materials Selectiond Mere Efficiency

AluminumAnd Steel TEFC & ODPMotors

Talk about durability! An integratedsteel producer uses dozens of Lincolnaluminum frame inverter-fed ACmotors on its 84" holding table. Chosenfor their performance capabilities, theyhave dramatically outlasted the DCmotors they replaced.

CRUSHER DUTYBelt Me (I can take it); Lincoln Crusher Duty Motors Meet the Demands of the Aggregate Products IndustryLincoln Crusher Duty motors are designed for the severe belted-load applications found in size reduction equipmentsuch as rock crushers, pulverizers and conveyors. Thesemotors also have the "get up and go" capability necessary tostart aggregate industry equipment and the overload capability to keep it going.

• rugged, welded heavy-gauge steel frames

• drive-end roller bearing and hi-strength 4340 steel shaft

• horizontal or vertical shaft down mounting

• inverter-rated

• over temperature protection – three Class F

thermostats

• two levels of energy-efficiency available

• across-the-line, y-delta/start-delta and

part-winding start capability

For Extremely Harsh Environments;Pressure Encapsulated Windings Keep ‘Em GoingWhere moisture and contaminants are a real problem, youshould consider a Lincoln Wash-Thru™ motor. Unlike conventional "washdown" motors…which attempt to seal outthe elements…our Wash-Thru motors have completely pressure encapsulated windings. This isolates the motor component most vulnerable to moisture damage. Service lifehas been demonstrated to be up to 800% greater than motorsdesigned for washdown use. Wash-Thru motors can providean improvement in plant efficiency and a reduction in maintenance costs due to an increase in process up-time.

• drop-in replacement for TEFC and

TENV "washdown" motors

• full length 303 stainless steel shaft

• high quality double-sealed bearings and

v-ring shaft slinger

• stainless steel nameplate

• FDA approved white finish paint
